*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

Games will no doubt look very similar on both systems. So I don't get why some of you like to spend so much time focusing on the specs.

In the end it'll all come down to the console's features and the games.

because its fun !!!

hence i said not the spec sheet :p

just curious as to what everyone's heard as the good ole games media seems to be in full on make crap up mode.

I don't think there is any confirmed specs from Sony other than the spec sheet. I doubt there will be anything until it is released and people start pulling them apart tbh.

that's what im expecting, maybe get something from games con next week but i wouldn't be surprised if we have to wait for someone to rip one open. just the whole gaming media muppets that are in full on guess work mode that's getting funny now.

its like they just guess what it maybe as they insert "rumor from a well placed source" just to get clicks.

It really isn't. It just causes more arguing about whether it's as powerful as [insert PC GPU here] or how much more powerful it'll be than the Xbox One or whatever. There's very little actual insight into the games we'll be playing to be gained from a bunch of numbers.

Rumor: Our internal product release schedule from head office dropped yesterday and on Oct 21st an unnamed Sony console will be launched. Fyi all console revisions like the ps360 slims and Wii Mini were listed as ps360 & wii mini. Previously the wiiu, 3ds and vita were also only listed as Nintendo/Sony Console in the product name column.

Disclaimer: I just work at a very large retailer, managing the electronics sales force and nothing more. I have nothing to do with purchasing, nation wide merchandising or shipping. I am not trying to play this off as I have connections at Sony, or I am some sort of insider. It's that just yesterday we received a product release schedule from our head office and I thought this is OT itt. These schedules btw, are for internal use only, designed to allow us time to create our instore merch plans. If the launch date for a product is unknown, it's simply marked TBA. The only time a date is ever included is when we have received confirmation of said date from the product company.

If true...........................

Cant be the PS4, as that already has a name :)

Take with many pinches of salty stuff, communication like that that gets sent down from head office in retail is notoriously unreliable or inaccurate. At this point the retailers will have no idea on launch date.
Indeed. I imagine a firm date will come out at Gamescom next week, especially if MS announce the release date for the Xbox One as well.

Had an email from Amazon reference Release Day Delivery.

As someone who has already pre-ordered a qualifying item with Release Day Delivery, we'll be removing the First Class delivery costs from your order as part of this new FREE Release Day Delivery promotion. This change will be automatically applied to your order before we send it to you and you won't be charged for the delivery.

Looks like I will be getting it on release day and not after :D

Got that email earlier too, pretty great really and will certainly make me consider Amazon for other pre-orders in the future. Now just for a release date so I'll know how much time I'll have with it before I disappear to Australia for 5 weeks. :(

I had this too (several times in fact), but checking the order numbers it said in the subject, it was for my orders that had games in. My PS4 order which is separate was not mentioned (ordered 11th June), and on the PS4 page it doesn't say "Get it for release day" like the PS4 game product pages do. I assume if the order has both games and ps4 in you'll still get the email, but I don't personally think it confirms anything :<

Especially when one of the order numbers it mentioned for me was cancelled a month ago XD

You have to pay for it normally though (unless you have prime)

Well I got the email and I only have a console on preorder.

Then I have no idea what to believe haha, did read this on the page they linked:

FREE Release Day Delivery is available to Non-Prime members for eligible products (including games, consoles and accessories) listed in the Amazon.co.uk 'PC & Video Games' store that are pre-ordered between July 30, 2013 and 23:59 on 31 December 2013.

But then I get the impression people still got the email even if they ordered before then so :\.

edit: In fact they are because I ordered before then for the games and still got the email. One of the emails had the same order # twice though which is odd, maybe an error, who knows. Will wait and see till Amazon actually have a despatch date on the order though.
