*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

November still seems more than likely to me, it'll completely overshadow Beyond: Two Souls if it's in October and given that's probably the last 'big' PS3 exclusive, I don't think they'd want it to go ignored.

Late October seems to fit well, earliest really possible - anytime before December is fine by me tbh...

ps3ud0

That is released 11th of October, I could still see it happening.. But yeah November is most likely. Still it's looking very likely we will know next week for sure :)

i had a look at canadian amazon and they have 30th of november as a release date and amarican amazon has 31st of december.

amazon uk has no date as of yet.

therefore it's safe to assume no date has been agreed as of yet or sony haven't released the date, because they may want to launch first so are waiting for MS to release their hand first.

would be great if sony did release first tbh

Given the "sold out" pre orders Sony has for PS4 I wonder if they are considering a very limited early "soft" release with just enough stock to fulfil the preorders that ran out in July followed by more free stock in December.

Given how they've been consistently trying to one up Xbox on stuff it wouldn't surprise me although I'm not sure I see the point of releasing first and early if you can't fulfil any more orders (although I guess much like Apple releases in the past lack of availability itself creates demand plus being the only next gen console for a while getting lots of social/press coverage could drive orders for next stock availability).

The other thing that occurred to me was could MS have been planning an early November release as they have dropped a bunch of non English speaking markets for wave one availability and once again Sony are reacting preparing to one up a MS announcement?

Maybe manufacturing went better than expected and they are just ready early although that would still potentially raise a problem of game availability?

Or it all could be total tosh :)

the whole iphone argument doesn't work for consoles, iphones are for clueless buyer's, the fact you can buy an arguably better phone for 1/3rd of the price tells you that.

iphones sell due to the massive hype train of the ipod, everyone bought an ipod, so now everyone buys an iphone.

i dont understand how selling out would make people buy more.

imo if it sold out and people were left waiting and there's xbox's sitting there on the shelves for a few quid more, im pretty sure they would ditch waiting and just get an xbox.

therefore if i was sony, i would want to manufacture as many as i could as quickly as i could, to ensure the majority of the market was satisfied.

thing is sony have been overwhelmed with demand, due to being the better console at the cheaper price. to me that means they genuinely cannot meet demand no matter what. this console should smash previous sales records you would think, if sony can manufacture them quick enough.
