********* The Official GTA V (5) thread! *********

The multiplayer looks extremely fun. I just wonder if its all a little to late though. This is out 17th of Sept, new gen consoles are expected around Nov. How many people are actually going to carry on playing GTA on their PS3/360, once they have their hands on a PS4/XO ?

I imagine a lot of people will be buying a next gen console which has no backwards compatibility so will be unable to play this. Unless R* do plan to launch it on the next gens and hopefully PC (Please release it on the PC PLEASE RELEASE IT ON THE PC !!! :p) I just see the online community dieing rather rapidly as most people will either trade in their PS3/360 or just not have it plugged into their TV.

Just my 2p

Little too late???

Show me a next gen game that is on par with the new gta game?

I've yet to see one. Which is why I don't "plan" to purchase a next gen console during the launch period

No way it's too late. There are squillions of 360 and PS3 owners out there who won't be buying in to the next gen for a good while yet. This will probably be the biggest selling game ever and I think the people that do buy into the next gen will still be coming back to this if it's as good as it looks.

That video looks immense btw. I wasn't expecting this MMO PVE/PVP type stuff at all! No XBLive sub atm so PS3 for me definitely.

They might loose some people but this game is a reason to keep this gen around instead of it just gathering dust. Out of all the games anounced for next gen the closest to gta seems to be the division but even that doesn't offer half what gta does.

Obviously it is impossible to know numbers but there is going to be a high multiple of gta sold against next gen consoles. I can see GTA5 selling more than 4 and 4 sold 6 million in the 1st week alone.

I'll be keeping my 360 as well (I would anyway), so I'll likely be playing this for some time.

One thing R* said though is that it will be an ever changing, ever growing world. Imagine how awesome it would be if at some point next year GTA V was released on next-gen consoles, and GTA Online followed it. It could have nothing different except updated graphics, and it would still likely be the biggest selling game on the next gen consoles.

I don't see the next-gen having a huge impact on GTA5, plenty of PS3s were sold this year almost solely for The Last of Us for example, so those people probably aren't the type to then buy a next-gen console at launch 6 months later.

GTA4 sold 6 million copies worldwide in its first week; I read somewhere they're expecting numbers close to that for just the UK when GTA5 launches.

it was just a thought :p I also plan to keep my current gen consoles. But I just think that a lot people will be overcome with the "must have new shiny toy" syndrome and the PS3/360 will take a back seat.

Much like it was for me when the 360 first came out. My xbox erm original and PS2 pretty much gathered dust as I was too interested in the 360.

Of course I could be completely wrong.

That said I still look forward to playing the online. But god dammit please release it on the PC :D

We should definitely run a crew in GTA V.

Planning on it! I think it will be better to set up during September though.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

It's not too late at all, if anything R* have killed off many sales of next gen hardware and games.

Nothing even comes close to GTA5 from what I have seen that the new games have to offer on next gen, maybe in a year or two they will catch up but till then I'm gonna enjoy every second of the greatest game ever created.

Hyped to get my hands dirty and start learning the map, which is not too big as someone mentioned a lot of it is scenery for example, most people will want to stick to steets/built up areas as compared to a forest/mountain.

Gonna be a hell of a trip, 2 weeks to get your **** together and then go at it online, for those who like rankings and such they will be wanting to be the best of the best in their field.

I'm not one of those, but would like to consider myself a good enough wheel man and pilot! I was in GTA 4 anyway lol.

I'm super glad they have big improvements in anti-cheating and griefing systems and that they have data available to keep it all fair

I'm just glad I got my pre-order in a month or two ago, as I imagine there will be a rush on them now.

Yup, can imagine the collectors edition is starting to gain value now, especially for the online garage property and unique car, seeing as it will have a direct impact from the start to get you slightly ahead of everyone else who will need to earn money and buy their first car when you are already blasting down the road running them over while furiously laughing at their cheap ass as you get out, take what money they did have and drive back to your house to hide while you count your first winnings with them knocking at the door lol!

Just imagine if GTA Online brings the ability to fly to different city locations..................

That could well be the case, especially with expansions which are hinted at.

In a way, I hope they add vice city...if you really think about it the map was tiny and would make an incredible addition to the game. I wouldn't want to see liberty city again, as I played GTA 4 for many, many hours.

If they were to add Vice City rendered to the same detail as GTA V I would probably pass out.

I hope with GTA:O, if I see some people chilling in an apartment I can liven up their party with a few rockets from my helicopter.

I think if you are in a owned property you get placed in that passive mode.

But that would be cool, lol

I can see many a wasted hour of GTA:O I don't even have xbox gold. That's gotta change. Ocuk crew?

wasted!?

entertainment value has never been seen on this level before! :p

Crew has to happen...I don't wanna be deafened by 12 year olds screaming down the mic at how many times they get slaughtered :D

I think theres a very good chance for GTAO to make it to next gen as some form of MMOGTA rather than GTA5 itself. Seems more than possible and Id happily double dip to keep playing this it seems...

Whats the different editions for this? Only order the normal one but Im tempted...

ps3ud0
