I'd love to get to some of the North American bike parks, some of the Canadian ones look amazing.

What sort of riding is there to be done around Manchester? I have a work thing in September at charnock Richard, and might Aswell take the bike to do some riding afterwards.

I know of riding around Macclesfield which isn't overly far away, some in the local forests and my friends have some nice lines on private land.

[RANT]What is it with Halfords and their absolutely awful online 'Stock Checker' system?. It does nothing but lie consistently to you every damn time you want to buy something from them. Wanted some basic trail brake pads this morning - checked online and my local two Halfords stores have them in stock. Nip out to first one, an 8 mile drive away. 'Sorry m8, if they ain't hanging up then we probably don't have any' says the teenager behind the counter.

So I nip to the next nearest store, another 5 miles away - 'Nope, sorry don't have any in stock'.

'But your online stock checker said you do have them in stock?'.

'Ah.....but even if it says online we have them in stock, it doesn't strictly mean that we actually have them in stock' is the considered reply.

Wut?.

Just done what I should have done in the first place - ordered online from CRC. Halfords are a complete joke, but I should know that by now as its about the 5th time this has happened to me!!. Muppets.[/RANT]

They're investing a fair whack in targeting the bike market ... I too have had mixed results recently though.

Experience 1) Ordered part online for delivery in store the next day for me to collect. Turn up at said store after said time and it's not there, brilliant!

Experience 2) Again ordered online for store delivery (different store) and collection. Got a txt message and the store even rang me to confirm the part was there for me to pick up, splendid.

Sorry :)

To be fair, the errors with the online checker system relate directly to the in store stock control, and for things like brake pads which can be used on repairs and stuff, they quite often go missing. Best bet is to always phone the store first to check and see.

I'm guessing it was Falkirk and Cumbernauld/Stirling? Want me to phone them and shout at them?

It's deeply dependant on stock levels, the online checker reports the number that the stock file says. If the store are on top of things they will clear this down to zero when there are none on the shelf anymore.
