Oops hacked website

Well I didn't hack it so to speak, I happened to google a company product in a certain way and followed a link

Next thing I'm in their entire customer list, from there accounts, orders, turnover, reseller price breaks, tax payments, stock, production runs etc etc

Obviously I have let them know and am awaiting reply.

What would you do ?

I did add a sneaky request for a free product for letting them know, you never know !

Blackmail! Request a 'reward' or you will be contacting the data commissioner who won't take something like this lightly.

You did that by just following a link? That website sounds appalling, I wonder if they even have the expertise to fix it.

Yeh it's shocking, but with the turnover where theirs is you would have thought they would hire someone who knew about security.

Scary thing even google has indexed the backoffice system lol

You'll be shocked if you ever move to another country. Not sure why people in the UK always expect rewards for helping others out. It was refreshing when I moved to NZ that the compensation culture doesn't exist!

It's because us British are polite people. He could have been a **** and messed about with all sorts. I know if this was my company there would be a thank you gesture.

My favorite was the old Google string to search for unsecured network printers and cameras.
Can have a lot of fun with them especially the printers. Unnervingly though once i found a camera for someones spare bedroom i think. Door was open and you could see people walking past occasional.
