I only rode it 3 times :( I think ill sign up to that classic/vintage 100miler ride around london and do it on SS, with padded shorts of course.

;)

I'm picky about looks and if something looks out of place on my bike it drives me nuts.. :s

I saw possibly the coolest cyclist ever today. Young black dude, cream chino's, white T, no lid, aviator shades. Riding a pink SS w/ woven basket on the front carrying a boombox, blasting out reggae and riding one handed while casually licking a calypso lolly; like a boss.

No way I could pull that off.

Yeah, P-X are one of the others I've looked at. The bike fitter I saw thought they might not be so great for me, as they have quite a racy geometry, and I'm after something more sportive-y, but I've been noticing lately that when I'm in the drops my arms are at like a 30 degree angle to the horizontal, and I don't feel like I'm getting super low. I can't fiddle with the saddle height, as that's right for my legs, so it's either about a longer top tube or a longer stem...

I'm slowly coming to the realisation that the fit guy was right. I do need a longer bike. Both my bikes are fine for being in a chilling out position or when climbing hills but I've got no chance of getting properly aero.

New bike time?

Edit: He did suggest Planet X for exactly the reason you said, they're longer and racier.

I've decided to pull out of the TT tonight

I did a long walk on Sunday up in the peak district (approx. 8 hours)
and i feel worse now, than I was yesterday

fee4t now have verruca, hips and ankles are hurting when I walk, so I shall recover a bit, and its my day off tomorrow, so im going to have a lie in and pop out for an hour on the bike at a more relaxed pace

besides anyway, its the last one of the year, and I haven't done any yet!!

More consistent braking and better modulation at all times. Also, as there is no rim wear your wheels will last much longer and be much lighter where it makes a difference.

For long descents there is no rim heating and so you won't blow the tyre off.

Can someone answer me a noobie question

I suspect my heatset is a bit loose and I feel a slight movement almost like a click when I hold the front break and rock the bike back and forward I'm convinced it's from the steerer tube or whatever you call it.

I also noticed a creek over bumps when I last went for a ride which I'm pretty sure was not from the crank set but pedalling did seem to amplify it which is why I think it might have worked loose by a mm or two

Now to correct the tension/pull on my forks do I just need to

or is the bit on top just a cap I need to take off first? I don't want to completely undo the top to find something drops down into the forks lol

I would definitely be keen to have disc brakes on a road bike. Rim brakes are dire in the wet, combined with better modulation and no rim wear either, seems like a no brainer.

The Team Alu is quite an aggressive frame with a short headtube but is probably the direct competitor to Ribble's aluminium bikes. You might be able to get a Pro Carbon second hand for the sort of money you were talking before (or a new one for not a lot more). They're a bit more relaxed geometry wise and well equipped for the cash.

Have you considered going second hand? I'm sure people on here would be happy to advise and you get a lot of bike for your money on somewhere like BikeRadar.

Ah, didn't think of that! Would make more sense...

Just nod and agree with arknor.. or he'll storm off and delete all his posts again :D
I already said I guess most people into cycling are pretty loaded anyway so would just buy a garmin for convenience like I have. (best I have more money than I need post ever?)
it was not the so called "argument" that was not really an argument.
It was one of the comments that really made me want to beat the crap out of someone and he's still been trying even since I stopped posting here.
if you want I'll trust you why

anyway can someone answer my question with a simple yes/no about my headset

and then I can disappear from here until I have something worthwhile to post again

id love disk brakes on my bike.. :) they are the feature so its not surprising that they're getting into the 2014 range of bikes..

Disc brakes are awesome in the wet. I was concerned when i got them that they would overpower the grip from the 25c tyres in the wet but they have fairly good modulation so it's easy to keep in control. This will only improve when things start moving to hydraulic brakes.

Nobody is cooler than Hesjedal in his dodgy aviator-ish glasses.

yes-ish :o:p its 3 screws just give it a shot.

Specifically I'd like hydraulic discs. I've had mechanical ones and was unimpressed. I'd be happy with hybrid ones actually.

The current offerings from TRP look the business:

Hylex are full hydraulic with drops. Unfortunately you have yo use their singlespeed levers so FGSS, downtube or bar end shifters only.

HY_RD are cable operated but have the master cylinder built into the calliper. Some issues with cable stretch affecting modulation but still have both sets of pads moving rather than one fixed like on mechanicals.
