*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

Hey all, hoping someone can give me advice on cases. I'm looking for a good quality aluminium bumper style case as the S Cover is getting on my nerves! Ay recommendations? Thanks in advance

Just got the S4 :D. Quite nice overall but not too fond of the back cover; it's too shiny :D

What's the easiest way I can copy apps (preferably with the data eg. game saves etc.) from my old Android phone to the S4 so I don't have to manually install them one by one?
Thanks.

Cyrus - There's a lot of good ones, I don't personally know the most stable, but have a look at Google Edition, Pacman or ProBAM are all good ROMS. Foxhound is also a good middle ground for features picked from TW and CM.

Subbass - When I transferred, I used Titanium Backup but found problems restoring the apps so installed the apps manually and then reatored the data. Some ROMs have the option of restoring from your Google account, ie. It'll restore apps that Google knows you've installed on your old phone.

Thanks for the info Pulse.

Been Googling for a bit and from what I gather (correct if I'm wrong) that by updating to 4.3 (OTA update) I will lose root or won't be able to root?

I initially just wanted to keep it stock and just root and install clockwork mod. If I root and install CWM now on 4.2.2, it is very unlikely I can apply any OTA Samsung updates in the future because rootkeeper does not work for 4.3?

Folks what's the most stable of the aokp ROMs, PAC,probam or pa ? Or something else entirely

They are all stable roms [Alpha builds tend to have problems BUT they are alpha's!].

Foxhound, CM10.1, PACMan, ProBAM, PA, are all really good ROMS.
If you want STOCK STOCK android experience then try the Google Edition Rom.

Foxhound keeps all of the Samsung features but adds stock android theming. You can install a slim version of the rom which only installs the essential features or the full with all the features. You can also add Samsung apps if you need them later.

PACMan, ProBAM, PA, CM10.1 are all based on stock android.
PACMan and ProBAM combine roms together for more features [CM10.1/PA/AOKP]

Personally i prefer FoxHound as i get to keep the top notch camera quality as i take a lot of photos.

They are all excellent ROMS and you will not be disappointed with any of them.

All are regularly updated too.

Had my Black Mist S4 since saturday and im loving it (coming from blackberry).

One issue i have found though is that WiFi connections seem to drop randomly ad i need to turn wifi off and on again to connect.

This happens both on my BT Home Hub 3 and BT WiFi Hot Spot

Try WiFi Jumper app

Getting good performance with GE 4.3 but battery doesn't seem to last as long as AOKP/Wanam TW rom:

Didn't like it much to be honest, it offered too much customization for my liking if that makes sense?

That's because it offers customisations from three different ROMs all in one hence all those options. Maybe try PA or CM10.1 on their own...?

This is why I prefer to stick with FH as it's a simple ROM which just kind of gets on with things rather than giving you endless options

I do miss PA though. Loved that on my N4.

FH is slowly having more and more things bundled with it for customization though.

It is yes in terms of addon frameworks which you can use....JKay, 3Minit, Nootach.
They are not bundled though as you can choose during installation what you want and can add them in later if you decide.

Fair enough, thankfully the GS4 is not short of great ROMS.

I love how PACMAN has soo many options and that I use nearly all the fearures. It's like the ROM was designed with my perfect specs in mind :D.

Non of the Samsung S VIEW crud that I never use which helps keep the ROM size tiny compared to bloated TW ROMS.

now that the rom control features have their own settings page (no more pa/aokp/cm split, now we have interface/statusbar/system etc.) I think PAC is far easier to understand. It was a bit of a mess before with everything chucked in with the standard settings even if you could navigate around it all.

Yep it was a bit like introducing someone to Android after they had been an iOS user for years :D

a lot to take in if your not used to it.
