Absolutely, let monkeys like me put up with the teething problems 
I have installed Probam 4.4.1 and it seems ok. As said lots of customisation, but, for the life of me I cant get my messaging app to display the dark theme. Also, I don't know if this is part of the ROM but on Whatsapp and Messaging it looks as if the app isn't being stretched to the screen or the status bar needs deepening a few pixels, the red (badly drawn) arrow the screen shot below shows what I am on about.
Anyway to change this or not?

Yes there's a way to fix that. I've got a skinny status bar and don't have that gap.
Post your dpi settings.
OK I have seen DPI settings loads of times so which menu are you referring to?
The page where can set phablet mode etc. And the page where you set dpi per app. I'm away from my pc at the moment so can show you my screen shots.
Are you in phablet mode?
I put it to stock UI. Whatsapp and Messaging DPI settings are: size - 360 and Layout - 1. 360p

Subbass why not just flash one of the 4.3 Google edition roms from xda that include root?

What I meant was I just want to use the phone as it is out of the box but except it being rooted. I'm not too keen on vanilla Android at the moment as I've been using it on my old phone for about 1.5 years. Want to try something different ie Touchwiz!
So I take it it's not possible to root a S4 on 4.3 at this current time?
