Some Stats

Speeds are incredibly lower than what they should be.
Any ideas? Updating OCZ Firmware and SATA controllers now

Looks ok, how are you benching?

HD tune is not a good tool for that drive, ATTO will give you a better idea if it's working correctly.

CrystalDiskMark

Was under the impression that's same as ATTO but different GUI/Skin

SMART Stats seem fine yeah, but the speeds aren't right surely -- my Seagate Barracuda HDD has same speeds?

Is it running the latest firmware?

May well require an update and perhaps a secure erase to restore the factory fresh performance.

He hasn't done firmware or sata controllers since he bought PC.

Asked him to go to Device Manager and check what storage controller is installed and it's not even listed.. Completely skipped basics thinking they would've been done! Haha

Forgot to mention in OP/replies, these issues are my friends - I wouldn't be so newb :p

I get different results with Crystal Disk Mark compared to ATTO on my Vertex2 so I would assume not.

Try ATTO and see, if you don't get over 250k write/reads on the 32k + tests then there is an issue.

+1 you should test with atto benchmark for sandforce controlled ssd's even ocz recommend atto

you will see true rated read/write figures in that,as ssd benchmark will show lower, vice versa for non sandforce ssd's,faster in as ssd and slower in atto

its due to uncompressionable data/compressionable data I think the sandforce drives are faster in compresionable not sure now
