**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

Ahh you're right, the news reports I was reading didn't bother to mention it was only the Day One editions.

My email said this

Xbox One Day One Edition orders placed before 23rd August will receive a FREE downloadable copy of Fifa 14. Any orders placed after 23rd August will be on a first come first served basis for the standard Xbox One console.

Microsoft will be at PAX Prime this weekend with Xbox One, games, “surprises”
http://www.vg247.com/2013/08/27/mic...e-this-weekend-with-xbox-one-games-surprises/

The Games : Dead Rising 3, Project Spark, Kinect Sports Rivals, Fable Anniversary, Forza Motorsport 5, Ryse: Son of Rome, Battlefield 4 and other “surprises at the booth,” including games Major Nelson said he wasn’t at “liberty to divulge . . . yet.”

Sorry, I've turned into "RSS boy" today, doesn't look like a launch date announcement planned and I'm guessing the "surprises" are games not announced to be playable there rather than something new.

**Edit** Update with new source and some more info on XO architecture

Interestingly there's a bit for XeNoN89 ;)
Some interesting speculation around the ESRAM with it still not being entirely clear how it will be used.

Im still seeing some people who know much more about this stuff than me saying it does support hUMA and some saying it doesn't. I'm just going to go with 'we still don't know'

Out of interest other than a single quote from a PR person at AMD which has since been retracted as being incorrect by AMD who is saying it doesn't?

Various people on gaf and B3d are discussing it.

Anyway more rumours of manufacturing issues, apparently Microsoft have lowered their forecast for this year....to 6.2 million consoles! That still seems like a hell of a lot, more than I was expecting!

Think the quote was retracted not because its true or false, just that the guy had no authority to say what he did as AMD do not comment on stuff like that as not to promote or upset partners.

So speculation based on the original AMD comments then, fairy nuff ;)

They are discussing the slides relesed by Microsoft during that conference about the SoC yesterday too, and they still cant agree if it does or doesn't support it!

I think we literally wont know unless either Microsoft or AMD come out and say it does or doesn't

I appreciate the RSS feeds as I don't bother reading any gaming news sites.

Apparent now debunked by Microsoft.

Microsoft categorically denied the rumor.
"That report is incorrect. We have not lowered shipping volumes, and are actually seeing better than expected yields from our silicon," Albert Penello, a Microsoft senior director of product management and planning, said in a statement sent to PCMag.

That's that one solved then, i wonder if the numbere were accurate though? Seems like a large amount of consoles for a few months!

Pretty sure that must be true then, they are not known to do a 180 on comments they have made are they?:D

Better than expected yields, yet they pulled out of 8 countries for launch :p

It strikes me like the early November launch rumours are likely to be accurate. Given MS have cut back on the countries which are receiving the XBone at launch I'd be amazed if they didn't beat Sony to market by at least a couple of weeks.

Anyone fancy taking bets on a "Surprise" release date announcement at PAX ? We're only just over 2 months away from the PS4 launch and surely Microsoft can't keep the release date secret for much longer!

Ok so i just watched Drift0r's Youtube video about Dedicated servers, ill post the link below, and a couple of bits i found interesting... One is he said the PS4 is working on a cloud service and dedicated servers and will release short while after console release.. but until then there looking into a service like dedicated servers until they get it all properly set up..
The last part i found intersting is he said he thinks dedicated servers on Call of Duty will only be in League play/Clan ops .. if this is the case dedicated servers seems pretty pointless and not AS big a deal as orginally anticipated for big CoD players like myself and would put me back in the PS4 camp as dedicated servers was the main reason i consider a Xbox again.

Driftor is usually very accurate in what he says but most of his info as mentioned isnt official.

To do with localisation of voice and content for specific countries rather than anything to do with yields apparently...

"People assume there's a volume issue which in fact there isn't. You're actually seeing pre-orders pop back up now because we're able allocate the countries' volumes back in. It's there, the problem is localization. And once people see the system and how integral it is, it's not just text integration."

What's more, Penello confirmed that the lack of region locking restrictions means that those in countries where the Xbox One was delayed can get it from other territories, although they won't be able to interact with the console in their native language.

"But at the same time we said, this is a region-free console," he added. "In regions like Switzerland where people speak German and French, they can get a German or French console. It'll work fine. They can log in to their marketplace, use their language, we don't geo-fence Live or any of the content any more. We don't have official language support – but the console still works."

That would seem a bit odd - why code a game to use dedicated servers for some multiplayer game modes and then have to spend days/weeks/months for dev time coding and integrating a whole bunch of different P2P netcode for other multiplayer game modes giving people a crappy experience. Just doesn't sound like it makes sense although who can tell..

I was just joking, but the language they use is quite contradictory.

We don't have official language support, but here's an example of two official languages of Switzerland that our console supports....

Though I am aware there may be some slight regional differences in the French/German spoken. If volume wasn't an issue, it would have looked better if they kept the launch countries and just patched in the localised differences afterwards. I'm sure the Swiss and Belgian Xbox 1 customers would have survived and preferred that.

I wouldn't bet on it, though I wouldn't be surprised if MS do announce the release date at PAX. It's a US based show and they see the US as their primary market alongside Europe (perhaps even ahead of Europe). I also wouldn't be surprised if they announced a free game for the US customers considering they won't get Fifa for free like we do.

I've said for a while that I believe they've pulled out if those 8 countries to make sure they have enough stock for the rest of their launch territories, which they see as more important. This will be even more vital if they're going to try to release ahead of schedule to get the jump on Sony.
