£1500 Gaming Rig - Advice

Should do as its a lot lower then the Vengeance RAM but a big metal heatsink like them would cover the top of the stick in RAM slot 1 on the motherboard kinda defeating the object of theming imo.

The Z87X-UD4H is a great board and does everything the OC does, it has a few more main steam options and isn't as geared toward the overclocker but you will see the same clocks in real life as the OC with the UD4H as your hit the thermal limits of the CPU well before the limits of the board in both cases (unless you plan to use LN2 inside your case??).

Can I install the RAM as red-black-red-black or do I need to keep them paired together?

So, the metal heatsink would fit but would be make the RAM run warmer than if they weren't covered.

I really like the Z87X-UD4H, so that's defo now the board I'm going to get :)

Yep silver, red, silver, red is how its meant to go anyway :) as for the cooler they actually not fit, doesn't matter tho as they would cover the board and ram anyway and you wouldn't see that lovely red :( which would be bad times.

Quick question about the fans.

I take it 2x120 are for the h100 radiator? Are the others just quieter replacements for the case?

Also, why the AF and the SF fans?

Are the case fans easy to change post build?

The AF stands for Air Flow these are designed to allow much better air flow into the case keeping everything cool, the SP stands for Static Presure and these are designed to pull or push air though a rad (these are to go on the H100), the reason I spec the fan headers powered via the molex is so none of the fan use the headers on the motherboard (looks much nicer) and they have fan speed reducers built in aswell meaning the fan's will only be operating at around 60% of their max load so remain nice and slient :)

The fans are simple to replace post build if you want to do it at a later date.
