330i change?

Sell 330i and get a E46 M3 - They never get boring!

Or how about A blobeye Impreza WRX, again they don't get boring and for the money you cant get a better car

Whereas I'd say an Impreza is totally boring. Having those levels of mechanical grip make for a rather dull drive unless you are going to be reaching speeds that will see you not only without a license, but likely locked away from the general public. So that said, there are loads of "better" cars.

Subaru could be a good shout actually, its faster and surely can give me that sense of occasion back to driving again?

I can honestly say I've had more fun in completely stock MK2/2.5 MX5 1.8iS' than I've had in any Subaru, including a rather nice P1.

The noise is great (until you actually need to drive it anywhere remotely long distance, and then the drone just becomes something to hate), but as I alluded to above, it's actually a rather dull car at the kinds of speeds you can comfortably attain on a road.

Having driven a few RX8s in a spirited fashion, I can say that they do put a smile on your face in terms of driver feedback and just the fun of opening the taps and hooning about, but I wouldn't want one as an every day car at all.
I've only been driving my e46 a small while now, but can immediately see why the M3 and Z4 are suggested so often, and I'm pretty certain that bar a definite motorbike purchase in the new year, I'll be looking 6 cylinder as a next car / hooning toy as well.

I had a bit of a go against my ex gf's 1993 Impreza WRX in my 330Ci and it was by no means faster, it felt fast because of the shove it had from the turbo, but it was pretty level matched. (mines automatic too)

Have you actually driven one? They aren't slow at all, genuinely a really good thing to thrash around...they're just.....a bit crap at staying in one piece

Pretty much my view of an e46 330i - great fun to drive fast imo (albeit with T/C turned off so it does not spoil the fun) but without the bit about staying in one piece.

£3-4k, fun, fast...

Far more "raw" and "involving" than an E46.

Nice, very nice, but surely for most of the time it would be no better - indeed a lot worse in many aspects than what he has now?

Tbh, having an e46 330i and an e36 M3 as a weekend fun car seems almost pointless to me, yes, imo the e36 M3 will be a better all out drivers car, but not to the extent where it justifys the expense of buying it and running both.

Ultimately, whilst worlds apart in many ways, in others, way way too similar.
