330i change?

The m54 is such a massive improvement on the terrible ( sorry mrk but I completely disagree in the e46) 4 cylinder that the smart money goes there....but of you want excitement its impossible to overlook m power, there is no competition ( from BMW)

Each to their own of course :) I know that after 4 years of ownership and after I get something with a much bigger engine I'll still praise the 2 litre petrol engine! Okay it's running costs economy wise are no different to the M54, in fact I get 25 around town and 32 or 33 now on motorway purely because when I do drive it's mostly for leisure so don't even look at economy or petrol prices :p

If you buy them on the cheap yeah but it's pretty easy to tell which ones have been looked after and which ones have not. No different in tells from other E46 of similar age now.
I've had quite a bit of time to learn the common faults and things to change on the e46 now having had those done on mine and have a good specialist for engine work so it's at this point I'd be perfectly comfortable knowing it would be in good hands should something under the bonnet go wrong.

As for the economy thing, not the same when it's just a casual glance when resetting each fill up :p I have a car profile in the costs app so update that every time I put money into the car hence knowing what I do and don't get from it.

The variance with prices of the E46 M3 is pretty astounding.

You can easily buy a dog, or you can buy a pristine example, and pretty much everything in between. The market can easily tell the difference between the good and bad, and the prices fall in place accordingly.

Most have fallen into the hands of too many people with champagne tastes and beer money, but it's unfair to say they're mostly all abused now.

Even a 6 cyl gets boring, M3 would be nice. Currently I'm in America for the next two weeks but going to look into a loud Scooby :p

I find scoobys offensive to my ears. Needlessly loud and not pleasing to the ears at all.

I am clearly a terminally boring person as I have had my 530i 7 years this month and still have no real desire to part with it. Ok sure, it's performance no longer makes me think 'WHOA"!3132323333' but thats not boredom, it's familiarity.

Wish I could keep a car for 7 years! Saying that now a baby is on the way the A4 could be here for a little while as my plans to get an S4 is slightly out the window!

You have had another car in that time space though?

There's a time and a place for diesel. Fox doesn't do the kind of mileage for one so bit of a random question though given previous discussions here...
