Heres an idea, Stay out of the middle east, Leave them alone, Have nothing to do with them, If they want to gas and bomb each that's up to them, Just stay out of their countries as it always ends up the same with the US and UK getting their behinds handed to them and the US handing out mass friendly fire, Learn from history.
 
War is inevitable, but world wars (as we understand them) are not. I don't think the current geopolitical situation will lead us to a world war.

Let us say the US goes all out and invades Syria or Iran, how does it escalate beyond that? China won't get involved as it has no real power projection. Russia has a large conventional military, but it'' poorly maintained and mostly obsolete. The enmity between Sunni and Shia means there will no broad coalition of Islamic nations and even if they did unite, they are no match for the US or Europe. Simply put, there is no one currently in a position to fight NATO in conventional terms and no one is going to go nuclear over a proxy war.

The most realistic chance of WWIII is East Asia.

Machine intelligence will almost certainly surpass human intelligence in our lifetimes (for the younger members at least), a thought which is both exciting and frighting in equal parts.

The more I read about the technological singularity, the more I think that a Terminator-style scenario is increasingly likely.
 
Just saying that the big problem will come from the near East is a no brainer.

Only place on Earth that always has a constantly escalatable problem that could engulf (no pun) the world with religion aka politics.

Its peoples always ruled by single monarchs or regimes.

And is always the odds on favourite for strife.

Twas a joke ffs. He was the only person I could think of who I thought could be wearing a blue head covering in a photo. Considering this is a thread based off some vague writings of someone who lived the best part of 500 years ago I thought humour was implied but I never took into account people who need to be spoon fed smilies to get it :D
