Tattoo Advise

Why not get something that symbolises her, a character or image and that way if you regret it you could get it incorporated into something else?

I'm going to get one for my parents, a boat for dad, a carnation for mum. Its less tacky than getting "mum and "dad" written and only I know the true meaning behind the reasons for those particular things.

My bf had his ex's initials on his shoulder (I liked it, it spelled war), he hated it and has just had it covered with a skull.

why not symbolise your love to her through actions in life not by some naff tattoo. what happens if you break up?

about 10 years ago, chinese symbols were all the rage and i see them now, all faded on other people and they look awful. more to the point, they probably translate as egg fried rice.

A good friend of mine got the name of his gay lover tattooed on his arm in Chinese when we were at school. If that was not funny enough he then realised he was straight and ended up married. To make it even funnier it does not translate at all and actually says artistic wind (or something approximating that).

I still take the micky out of it 20+ years on. I say do it, what could go wrong?

Having said that, though, excellent foresight by the tattooist! Better to have artistic wind tattooed on your than Roger or something.

OP, please get someone to check the spelling for you. It's ADVICE not ADVISE.

Peace

or number 16 with sweet and sour sauce.

OP, if you absolutely must get something for her, why not get something unique? Japanese writing is way too common and (imo) doesn't even look that great.

Well a) I do that through actions anyway b) I don't think about breaking up but I'm not a negative thinker. The image idea sounds good though as suggested by others

Much better idea.

Listen OP, we are not trying to poop on your parade, just trying to assist you in the long term.

It's only less tacky though.

I do like tattoos, it helps me quickly identify the class of the person about to speak to me even before I hear their accent!

The problem with tattoo's is that it was only a certain kind of person who was perhaps not to be messed with or someone who was a little different that had them. Then just about everyone started getting them, including plebs. Now so many plebs have tattoo's, its really no longer anything special. You're almost more of an individual for not having a tattoo. If you're a good looking fella with a good shape to you, perhaps you can pull it off for a decade or two, before your design goes hopelessly out of fashion. But with the huge pleb factor now tattooed up, you could be branding yourself as a pleb.

I have one from the late 80's on my leg that just HAS to go.. At the time, out of my mates, i was one of the only ones with a tattoo, and i even remember a hot girlfriend at the time saying ooh i like your tattoo.. Mind you, this girl was mighty impressed that I had a mobile phone at the time. So that goes to show you how long ago that was.

If you want a tattoo of your partners name in Japanese then i would recommend taking a Google translate print out as they will use that as a stencil so it cannot be spelt wrong, that's your best bet mate
