** Star Trek Into Darkness **Spoilers!!**

Lets face it, it's never going to win best picture at next year's Oscars but as a sci-fi film I thought it was spot on! (and better than a good proportion of other Star Trek films over the years imo!)

Yes there were a few inconsistencies and dumb plot lines but what film doesn't these days!

2009 set up the whole "they can be different thing" and then this one does the exact opposite (a bit) and just plays about with old star trek stories with little twists and lots of over the top action. I'll give it 7/10 on the basis it's a good action film but it lacked most of the subtly of actual star trek

Saw it last night and this sums it up nicely for me. Hope for he next one we don't have to wait as long, and its not a rehash of one of the previous films.

Felt the same. Totally different universe, no Vulcan anymore etc, oh well nobody cares. It only got one line of dialogue in the new film and instead they decide to just copy paste Star Trek II.

Really poor.

I came away from the film wanting to see more of the earth's world buildings. I only really started to enjoy the film on the scenes when khan was on earth.
A lot of wasted potential. ..

It was alright I suppose. Prefer the original take on WoK to this version. Thinking about it a bit more, it seemed like the sort of Star Trek movie that Michael Bay might have made. Really generic, but everything blows up in really big, cool and expensive scenes.

Cumberbatch is great at playing nutcases. I still prefer him in Cabin Pressure though. :D

But, the biggest hated I have for this film is aimed squarely at the D.P. who lets the bespectacled pube-haired one get away with all the damn lens flares! Stop it!

But, it's their own fault. J.J. Abrams has said that he wasn't a Star Trek fan... It shows.

The 9 minute version before the Hobbit had Khan at the start but the release one didn't.

I read the aintitcool review above, I can see where he's coming from but IMHO it was a great sci-fi movie.

I never watched any of the old Star Trek movies or TV shows but the 2009 and this movie will remain in my favourite list for a long time. I loved them both, and they opened my interest in the older movies so I went back and watched them.

WOK was great, I loved it too, but how many people who watched the new movies are die hard fans. I'll welcome a third movie no matter what story line or plot holes it may have, as it's Star Trek for the old and new fans like myself.

My version here has the volcano scene at the start, then it goes to the family waking up n bed, going to see their daughter and Kahn appearing saying "I can save her"

This is getting just like games with 'retailer-exclusive' extras - but maybe even worse. This one looks like a real mess:

Surely something as stupid as this just makes people who download the film feel even more justified by their actions? Horrible way to sell BDs and is much worse than retailer specific game DLC as at least theres a good chance that will become available, I dont think anyone would really bother to do the same with retailer specific BD features. Guess it just means if you want the film dont buy the initial BD release but wait for the SE/DC etc...

Theres just no defence for such a practise

Here's the main headline:

"More than half of the special features created for Star Trek Into Darkness were used by Paramount’s marketing team as retailer exclusives."

So, EVERYONE who buys ANY version of this Blu-Ray will be missing out on some extras.

Wonder what the chance is that there will be a 'super-mega collectors ultimate edition' later...

Finally saw it.

***** and a disgrace to the originals.

Rehashes two films from the classic canon to create a story of nonsense, craps on the most revered scene in Star Trek, it then spends the first 20 minutes erasing the progress of the previous film and making Kirk a child again. Oh and every joke and line is a slight variant of the previous film, it copied itself.

The only thing I genuinely thought were good were the effects and set designs.

It was just rubbish, and no surprise Lindelof was one of the screenwriters, stinks of his lazy and disrespectful approach to writing.

Main reason why I've cancelled my pre-order. Hello cheap ebay purchase in 6 months.

I've also noticed that the 2 bluray set of the 2009 film is no longer available, just a bare bones 1 disc edition now.

Oh, the UK Exclusive list is apparently:

On all versions:

Creating the Red Planet
Attack on Starfleet
The Klingon Home World
The Enemy of My Enemy
Ship to Ship
Brawl by the Bay

Sainsburys will have an another 35mins of extras

The Voyage Begins… Again
Rebuilding the Enterprise
Vengeance is Coming
Me. Spock and Mr. Spock
Kirk and Spock
Visual Affection

Tesco / Blinkbox gets 20mins extras

Down With the Ship
NIF: Home of the Core
Safety First
Unlocking the Cut
The Sound of Music and FX
Aliens Encountered

And iTunes gets the audio commentary

*sigh* Morons.
