@ Craig: You asked me for a picture of my AGA-T2 coil setup some time ago. I must admit, since receiving my Sigelei 19b & Nautilus, I haven't really used it as I'd recoiled it messily after a flavour change and couldn't work the multiple hotspots out. So it's been sat on my desk awaiting it's turn for a 15 minute (the wife says 2 hours!) window of opportunity for me to fiddle...
I'd been interested in the MicroCoil & Cotton craze that's hit UKVapers , so after a couple of YouTube tutors and some swearing, I achieved the following :
32 AWG (320-Micron-or 0.2mm) A1 Kanthal, 10/11 wraps around a 2.5mm drill bit, with a 300 SS Mesh Wick, coil end brush-wrapped with 100% pure organic cotton wool (nicked straight from under the sprogs change table!)
It's not as neat or tight as I'd like, but it was only an experiment with what I had in stock. I have 28AWG (lower resistance) on its way.
This measured out at 3.1 Ohms - higher than I'd like, but I can just crank the power up. The 28AWG should allow me 10-12 wraps at 1.6 ohm - which I'm looking forward to
Choo-Choo!
It's brilliant - no hotspots whatsoever, it seems the cotton acts to prevent them - creating a buffer between the mesh and coil, better than any amount of oxidising will.
Vaping Scope's Apple Tart at 10W on the Vamo - flavours are clear and crisp; warm, smooth vapour with no hotspot burn if I hold the button too long.
Will take better pics with my SLR when I recoil with the lower resistance wire.
IMPORTANT: if you are thinking of trying this, go really easy on the cotton and don't dry burn it at any stage - prime the wick with ejuice beforehand or you'll just fry the cotton and have to start again.
Hope this helps you mate
