Rapist May have HIV From Victim

Problem is, with a quick start to treatment, which, ethically speaking, he will receive, he will probably have near enough a normal life expectancy. Possibly without really suffering much at all, unfortunately.

I just hope he doesn't go to the European Court of Human right and go after the victim, saying she should have warned him, this is the crazy BS I have come to expect.
To think a person is so unbalanced they have to make up absolutely stupid comments about the ECHR & the kind of things they do.....

Regarding the topic - to be honest, the real tragedy is that this may be a person who has not only been raped, but also is suffering from a serious illness.

The fact the perpetrator is now infected doesn't really make up for that & having one more person in the world with a highly infectious illness (more-so a person who is willing to rape another) isn't a good thing on any level.

European court of stupid decisions should be governed by a healthy dose of common sense.
While good in theory, the average person is also as stupid as the average person & therefore what many call "common sense" is more often than not ignorance of greater complexity.

This karma thing doesn't seem to have worked out all that well for the victim...
Indeed.

More-so if it was somebody born with aids, or was infected without doing anything incredibly risky - it just means two terrible things happened to one person.

His barrister, Virginia Hayton, said: "It is his own fault, if he had not committed this offence he would not have placed himself in this position."

Does it really matter what position he used?!

Ignorance stemming from a desire by every mainstream news source simply cherry picking stand-out points to be conveyed into the public eye rather than covering every available piece of evidence used in any judgement made.

That said there are some bizarre rulings that have been given over the years so common-sense oversight and governance of the court could help to stamp these out.
