Crazy insurance prices...

Insurance prices get more bizarre as the risk goes up.

When I had my s2k, I believe it was fox told me at a motors meet he had checked and both a 911 turbo and Lamborghini gallardo were cheaper to insure than the s2k.

I think it's probably down to how many s2k's end up written off by owners in their first 12 months of ownership. My insurance cost halved each renewal I had with that car.

I did a quote on a test drive can I took, brand new audi a4 black edition all bells and whistles (£30k+ ish).... was £100+ cheaper to insure than the 56 plate kia rio 1.5crdi (prob worth about £2k) I drive currently xD I suppose you could argue you'd drive the a4 a hell of a lot more carefully than the rio... but still xD

insurance confuses me :(

I recently swapped my mr2 turbo for a 1.6 focus to save money. Phoned up my insurance and got a £6 refund. Makes no sense to me!

When I changed from my Mk1 Focus 2.0 to Twingo 133 the policy had 2 months left to run and was ~£300. Cost to change for the remaining 2 months £900.

Cancelled the policy, got a new policy for ~£300 and a £20 or so refund (due to cancellation costs).

Missed out on a years no claims, but how the hell did they get the Twingo policy to cost the equivalent of £5400 PA ???

Just renewed mine on the XJ. esure wanted just under 800 quid to renew, so went to moneysupermarket and plugged all the details in. Swiftcover came back as cheapest at 270. Interestingly esure came up at 450 quid as a new quote.

So, never, ever, ever, ever take the renewal quote without a price comparison first.

231bhp plus a 'Ring sticker is performance in my book :p

You know that doesn't count :p

If it was available here then fair enough

Edit isn't it also an m54 if its 230ish bhp? Oh and wtf is going on with your rear ride height

I'm currently playing £295 total, but about £25 on a monthly basis DD on my Picasso Diesel. I just did a quick search on go compare and I can get an Mr2 Turbo or a BMW Z3 2.8 for £265 on insurance!

Crazy and it's the same insurance company yet those are cheaper than my Picasso Diesel 2.0 which is far slower, makes no sense

I used to have an Mr2 turbo and was paying £375 a year third party, how can a performance car with far higher BHP be cheaper than a 6 seater Diesel

Its truly bonkers I agree.

I can insure a 2001 5 litre V12 7 Series for less than my 2000 2.5 litre 3 Series Estate!

I presume fewer 750i's have gone backwards into a farmers field than 325i Tourings.....
