I'll write exactly what it says on the faecal test result thing about coronovirus.
Feline coronovirus is a common viral infection in cats. A positive pcr result on weekly faecal samples for 4 consecutive weeks can be used to detect chronic shedding carriers. A cat that tests negative on weekly faecal pcr tests for 4 consecutive weeks is unlikely to be a chronic carrier.
This was explained to me by the vet as because it was one sample and not taken over the course of weeks they may not be shedding all the time. Which is potentially better news than them constantly shedding it. I do know that now either of them can develop FIP despite my best intentions but I'm doing all I can to try and prevent it.
However, I kind of agree with your theory as it was my pedigree that brought it into the house. My moggie had never been sick before hand.
