94mph in a 70 - Scotland Police - what to expect?

I speed, I overtake, some people might not like that but I only ever dry to the conditions of the road. However, if I get pulled over for speeding the so be it, i'll hold my hands up and take the punishment. I didn't cry when I get my SP50 (also in Scotland) for doing 80mph on a pretty empty motorway, just paid the fine and took the points.

Personally, I'd drop speed limits on motorways and maybe some A roads but be much stricter on dangerous driving and speeding in built up areas etc

You would drop them and be stricter?

I would just like them to be stricter personally, but as said many times its not just speed thats the issue.
Speed just increases the impact of poor driving/poor judgement

Sigh..

Speed doesn't kill. Inappropriate use of speed kills.

Get off your high horse

THIS A BILLION TIMES!!

I don't think I've ever adhered to posted limits in my entire driving career!
Still alive and not killed any children yet! :D

Thread resurrection, I received a NIP through the post identifying my car and that I was doing 87mph on the A3 (70mph) outside guildford according to 'Manned' equipment and asking to identify the driver. I can't say for certain I remember doing such speed but anyway I assume 3 points and a £60 fine as well :( Yes I know I'm a child killer etc etc.

tee hee, i do love this forum for speeding arguments

OP worry not mate you will most likely get 3 points and a fine;

however, anyone stating that doing 45 in 60 for day to day driving needs to go on a saga holiday, permanently.

If everyone shared these beliefs; imagine the motorways, they would be comedic, arterial ringroads would crawl, single carriageway country lanes a farce; I suspect such types might have attached a weight to the back of their cars to draw attention to their empowered struggle against the dangers of speed, furthermore painting said weight white as a symbol of hope and to encourage others to flock and embrace their low speed campaign? I hear tell there are vast areas of grass which have been ruined just so such religious extremists can go and meet/dog with like minded speed haters.

all hail roads after 9pm when horlicks has kicked in and the thought of missing the archers in the morning forces this minority into their dream memory matress to slip into the land of nod and dream about Elddis Buccaneer with the optional ‘Cardinal Mirage’ leather upholstery with ‘Assina’ accessories.

:p

+1
Haha! :D Brilliant.

I think that's correct a fixed penalty notice is not a conviction and don't show up on CRB checks for instance. Don't they word it "Do you have any motoring offences, fixed penalty points or disqualifications (including pending convictions) in the last 5 years?". And I'd bet the insurance will have something in there about disclosure or such and expect you to tell them about anything that could be deemed as relevant.

For reference, traffic FPNs are convictions as they are ratified by a court.

Point blow!

After 3 clean years I got caught doing over 100km/h in a 70.
Was slowing down for roadworks on the motorway but evidently not fast enough.
It was adjusted and the speed was given as 98. Got away with a €135 fine.

Hate to think that I could've been lumbered with 6 points and crap insurance premiums for the rest of my life. Weak sauce.

Hmm, think I'll start laying off those 100mph+ bursts when going down the M1 early in the morning.

I know it doesn't make it right, but when the motorway is empty at night, everyone's doing 90. Saw an M3 pass me the other day, at what I can only imagine being around the 150 mark, just flew past me.

Also, when I'm doing 90, the car feels smoother and there's less cabin noise, than at 70.
