Either a Vamo or SVD (I prefer my SVD now) would be a good budget upgrade. Better battery life than the Apollos, better fine tuning of voltage, variable wattage. And the option to go either 18350 mini mode or 18650 lightsaber mode. Only £25 from fasttech too (plus batts)

Thanks both - exactly the sort of suggestions that I was hoping for. I'll go and do some research on both (am on UKvapers as well), so I'll do a bit of searching. Either looks like exactly my sort of thing. Just worried about too much rattle etc as I know the VAMO was a bit inconsistant depending on the batteries etc.

I think the most important bit if you decide to get a vamo is to make sure you buy the stainless steel one. All the chrome ones have thin cheap plating with less scratch and wear. It doesn't cost that much more from fasttech to go SS so I'd say it is a no brainer.

I bought my vamo when they were pretty new and fasttech wasn't as well known and paying for a SS one in the UK would have bumped the price a good bit more. I got a chrome one and it has copper patches were my thumb mostly has worn the plating.

I remember all that mallarky you had and seemed a nightmare good to hear you got it all sorted now!

Mini mech mods look like the way forward now I think. Means I've got something small to take outside, It won't ever break (probably end up hating it one day and want to buy a kick for it to regulate).

I'm currently on ultrafire 350 batteries and Panasonic NCR18650PD 650's

The DID's and everything look nice but they're so expensive!

@Wazz-1 has built a very pretty device, I want one :(
And how dare you mention the poldiac it look beatutifuland it's 213 euros....Super pricey vs my £400 or less per year smoking habit which means it's a big no no. Blast.

£413 a year huh - Buy a Dingo - 89 Euros - A DID or a Zen or a Kayfun all for 100 or less. Thats now 189 MAX you have spent and if you get any of these parts off classifieds even less. You can buy enough wick and coil to last you years for less then £20 from the right places.

Now all you have to worry about is juice again :P

Its better to spend on quality so you end up paying less from learning off of crappy initial products. Find your sweet spot find a nice mod a nice atty and you will not have to keep experimenting on new ones.

For me the Dingo is great and the DID is great it will be my main vape. I just have shinynitis and will end up probabaly buying things like a GP Paps or a Cobra because im stupid lol.

Cheers for all your help,

opinion on me buying this which I think is one up from the dingo?

"Roller for sale

RRP is 110 euro + shipping

Looking for £75.00 including shipping and paypal"

Juice isn't an issue I get that for free now :)

Is that off UKV

£75 is Brilliant price for a roller. You will be able to get that running an 18650 if you want aswell. I personally like the smaller dingo so stick with the 18350 mode but if I wanted I could always buy a tube to run it in 18650.

Considering that roller costs less then a Dingo I would definatley buy it aslong as the blemish is something minor.

Id say get that roller and then look at getting a decent atomizer and your all set :)

Good advice - thanks.

I think I'm going to get the SVD for various reasons (isn't much between that and the zmax though).

I wouldn't go straight into mech mods and stainless steel wicks just yet. They are a huge fiddle at the start, so I would suggest a good variable voltage mod like the SVD or Vamo, and then stick a protank on top. You can aalways put a new atty on top, but the VV mod will mean less fiddling with multi-meters and recoiling to get the right resistance coil.

why stainless wicks? Silica setups are less of a faff and they taste great. :D

That's the one ;)

I'm waiting for pictures.

There's about 5mm in it and I can use both batteries which is a major plus.

Then I can buy a rip off ithaka I suppose?

I would personally pay the extra 25 - 30 quid and get a brand new one, that way you get a mod that's not been abused by anyone else (sub ohm coils, spring damage and switch problems) plus new one comes with updated switch and you get it registered.

I've had my Roller now for 6+ months, never given me a problem, its been dropped a couple of times too ... at the mo, its in the hands of Garry Dibley on loan as I now use 14500 mods.

When I did use it, I had either a Kayfun 3.1es or DiD20 on it, both performed perfectly.

No...................................................... buy the real thing dont buy clones.

You can get good atomizers for sub £120. You HONESTLY get what you pay for..

Makes a fair point.

Either way your getting a good mod.

Why even Silica? I'm only using cotton right now. Noticed silica seems to break down after some vaping and worried about inhaling too much fiber glass. If you boil cotton before you use it, it takes away the new wick taste. So it taste good from the off.

Guess mesh wick are popular as they burn hotter, so give off more vapor and last longer before it needs replacing.

Sorry to jump on this, I use silica for the following reasons:

seems reliable
well recommended
heat tolerance
reasonably idiot proof

I share your concerns, but doesn't cotton burn really easily? This is probably a really stupid question, but I figured silica had better heat tolerance, but all I hear (particularly with the protank) is that cotton is the best.

Cotton? Not heard of this before, anyone care to explain!? Are we talking cotton wool i take it?

Also, all this talk and pictures of Dingos, and other such mech mods has caught my attention. Where does one buy them? :D

Can be cotton wick (candle wick) or wool depending on the use. It has to have juice on it or it will just burn. Been about a long time but it used to be much more fringe, more people starting to try it now.

Dingos (and rollers) can be had from the Atmizoo

Can someone also recommend me good/best batteries for my (soon to be purchased) SVP?

Was going to get a Nitecore charger as they seem to be the best value/quality.

Sub ohm vaping doesn't have to be difficult...
