Then surely them changing their design to make it more in line with what the general public wants is to be lauded, not attacked? Not you particularly, but I do feel MS are kinda in a "damned if they do, damned if they don't" place. They misjudged what the public wanted, presented their vision badly, got blasted for it, changed to what the majority wanted, then got blasted again. Just seems a bit unfair for people to continue to have a go at them, even when they are trying to rectify their mistakes.

Yeah but what you and a few others in this forum do is the opposite. Praise them if they do and praise them if they don't :)

For instance, a few people here applauded MS at E3 and said they wanted all these features and they are the future. Now most have been dropped/delayed, you still applaud MS.

Make up your mind, did you want their original vision, their new dumbed down vision, or are you just happy with anything Microsoft say/do?

On topic, I voted for PS4 (I think I voted the same in one other poll as well). Most people I know are getting it and the original vision of what MS revealed (which I believe is what they want long term and will trickle feed slowly over the lifespan) is not what I want.

- I want 0 restrictions on 2nd hand sales (MS did not want this originally and I buy about 50/50 new/2nd hand)
- Not interested in Kinect (although I can see myself trying each feature out if I had it and then not using it again).
- I have a VITA. I don't have high hopes for anything interesting being done that hasn't been done on PSP, but it's a free bonus for me.
- I know for a fact I only have time to use 1 console so don't want to tie myself into 2 systems (waste of money) like last gen.

They were unconfirmed rumours that only surfaced after the policies had changed. Everything official from MS pointed towards the sharing of the full game and not a demo, though it was never confirmed 100% how it would have worked.

The way I understood this was that, say Davey buys a game, and I'm on his family list thing, I understood it as that as long as Davey was not playing that game, I could play the single player as much as I wanted. Davey could play the single and multi player as much as he wanted, but not while I was using the single player.

It would have worked in the reverse too.

I find it hard to believe that 10 people could have shared 1 game freely. Was bound to have a ton of restrictions

MS confirmed sharing wasn't time limited - http://www.neowin.net/news/microsoft-xbox-one-family-game-share-was-never-time-limited

Too late to save it though although i fully expect it to come back in some form which is another + for XO for me.

I don't think it's much of an issue, you can already see the prices of games dropping. I've previously mentioned FIFA, it was £60 when I pre ordered, then £55, £47 and now I'm sure it was a bit lower.

I mean prices online on PSN and Live, whilst its been a while, the prices on PSN are absurd compared to retail (by retail anywhere that isnt PSN/Live, so Amazon, ShopTo etc). Most of the new releases are £55, older games £20-£30 (when you can pick them up for a couple of £ at retail/ebay etc)

Again its been a while, but Live was the same for digital games. If they had come out and said, because of no used games all the money will go to the devs/publishers, games will be £35 or £30 or what ever, I think more people could have got on board.

I preferred their original vision, however I can accept I was in the minority (or if not, then the naysayers were the loudest) and can praise them for responding to their customers. It feels a little less next gen to me, we're basically doing the same thing again with slightly more power and loads of tacked on features to try and justify it.

Serious thought though, will the games be ported to one an other and which will be the main console they write for? sure i heard PS4 was easiest console to code since the PS2 or something..
Youre asking a few questions there really and no the PS hasnt been the easiest console to code since PS2 - far from it!

TBH you are asking a pretty complicated question which just cant be fully answered til we know more about their 'insides'. The easiest answer is that there shouldnt be a significant difference in effort of porting (some advantages cancel some disadvantages and so forth), whether that means a similar performance level is the more interesting bit.

ps3ud0

I didn't get a kinnect for my 360, but a lot of my friends did, I used it a few times and it was fun, but meh, I'd just rather sit down with a console on my bean bag (it's amaze balls, it's one of those massive ones) and just relax and play a game, not jump or wave about.

It isn't something I'd use.

Sadly no one will ever no. They should have clarified the policy while it was still being considered. It is soo easy to say it wasn't limited after they scrapped/delayed it. I guess due to some of the policy changes around then, people probably ignored the info you found anyway!!

Exactly my view.

I think that developers / publishers will eventually realise that digital prices can drop, but, the problem is people pay for them now. I mean, if you're getting people moaning at the prices of games but still buying them, it's not a problem, it's when they stop buying them it's a problem, which is basically what happened with the xbox one, people weren't going to buy it, hence a change of tact.

I had no problem with the vision Microsoft set out, I just didn't subscribe to it, so picked the PS4.

Same as PS4 (in a broad way) different added features, but in principle yes, same as last gen with more oomph and features that no-one really knows if they will use beyond month 1 (myself included!!)

Suarez, Tummy and Crater, I've asked you once nicely to drop it. I'm asking you nicely again to drop it. I won't be asking a third time, you'll just be getting a holiday, so please think before you post :)

Yup, they were way too late and screwed all the messaging up totally. Personally i think the MS PR team had been hypnotised by the Apple way of doing things trying to drop rumours and tease out info bit by bit all the way to launch, it backfired massively and when it became obvious people were getting annoyed or not getting the full storey they just weren't ready to clarify stuff properly. Even months later there are still people who swear XO prevented second hand sales. It's a cliche but you only get one opportunity to make a good impression and MS made a complete hash of it.

I think Suarez needs to relax a bit and see that nothing was personal, nor said with malice. Relax broseph.

Yep, as I said, the only PR department that could have messed that up more were the PR department that Liverpool employed.

I was staggered by the announcement.

Evolution not revolution though, where as what Microsoft was offering was more of a Revolution and that confused and frustrated people, due in part to the terrible marketing / PR announcements.

How naive are you? Why do you think any company does anything? Do you think Sony give games on PS+ out of the goodness of their own hearts?

They didn't do it out of the goodness of their hearts, PS+ was an optional service and offered fantastic value for money.

MS were pretty much forced into their 180's due to terrible pre-order numbers and angry customers. People were complaining about their policy and ideas way before their announcement, at that stage though MS couldn't care less as they thought they'd be able to push it on people. When it become clear that it couldn't be pushed onto people and they just would not buy it, only then did they pay attention.

I actually think they've done a good job turning the mess around, I was always buying both but MS only have themselves to blame for any lost support as it did prove how out of touch they were with the customer base.
