**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

It would probably not be required for your old current style disc games. Plus remember Sony, they never did get forced to reintroduce the "other OS" option despite removing previously available functionality

There's a difference between removing a feature and removing all functionality. If someone bought a console for a submarine then suddenly couldn't use it? Bam, lawsuit.

The fact they said to me over the phone they could do it but were not willing without me placing an order for a bundle is to me anyway bad service. Especially as I have spent over a grand with them so far.

I think it's you not understanding.

They have a set amount of allocations of the F5 bundle, however the standalones of these went almost immediately. That's what you are trying to change to, yes? Tough luck then, they sold out.

What they are saying is that they do still have F5 editions, but only in their pre-decided bundles. What you are asking is that they break their pricing/product structure just for you. They aren't going to do that as then it would open the floodgates for others to try it on, and as I pointed out earlier, if the bundles make them more money, so what? That's the reason they exist.

Shopto already provide a damned good service without having to bend over backwards for people.

TBH you seem to be more annoyed because you missed out swapping in time, which you can't blame them for.

happy to help but its £129/m for 3 months interest free or upto 12 months without paying a penny. If you fail to pay in time you go onto 39% apr but noones gonna do that :P

The £30 code will apply 3-4 days after they phone you to tell you the order is ok. This will mean you pay nothing for 1 month then £129/m for 3 months on the 'take 3' offer.

Putting in the free forza is awesome! when very phoned me they guaranteed me for launch day and said they understand gamers and have direct deals with MS factory shipping.

so basically buy today for £399 including forza and pay nothing for a month then 3 interest free monthly payments and get guaranteed day one delivery from factory!
Have you got the code?
I might have used the wrong one

Ohhh so the payment start in December yes? or release day?

Out of interest I just spotted the list of XBox 360 releases you'll be able to upgrade to XO versions for £9.99 through Amazon etc until the end of the year.

  • Battlefield 4
  • Madden NFL 25
  • Need for Speed Rivals
  • Call of Duty: Ghosts
  • NBA 2K14
  • FIFA 14
  • Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag
  • Watchdogs

Would anyone really want to get Watch dogs on this gen then upgrade? Can see it being handy for COD and Fiffa. I would wait a few weeks then get BF4, watch dogs etc

No, they could implement it just for things purchased on the store (rather than their original plan of everything)

I guess, pointless imo. I know a lot of people are saying now they will go "all digital" but the prices will deter them come launch date. This will just end up being people sharing XBLA games. Which is still better than what we have now, but a bit watered down compared to their masterplan.

Ironically, if they announced it now then people have more incentive down the line to go digital (at the expense of putting off people who don't want DRM).

damned if they do..... Personally I think this change is one gen too early, but time will tell.

It would be great to be able to share and trade in older XBL titles once you're done with them. AFAIK no-one else has managed to have a system like that.

I'm not 100% sure on that. MS have said that their RRP for games is £49.99, so I'd assume that the digital games will cost that price. Considering most game shops are only £5 cheaper, some people might be happy to pay the extra £5 for the convenience of not having to swap disks.

A lot will depend on the 3rd party developers and how they price their digital games.

OK, seeing as you seem optimistic :) What incentive to publishers (developers have no say in the price) have to price any cheaper than last gen?

Yes launch titles now may only have a £5 difference (2 monthe before launch!!), but look at COD or FIFA on 360 or other annual titles. How much could you get those on digitally on launch day compared to a shop or a preorder. I will hazard a guess it was much more than £5 for the bigger titles as the retailers discount more on some games.

Last gen you could walk into a supermarket and get a game for £10 less than RRP.

Might to that for Battlefield 4, just so I can compare the difference ;)

Or they could just do what amazon did, and make all their allocation available separately instead of forcing people into bundles. You make out its some big effort, its not.

This current gen has been very poor for the digital pricing of games, I will never argue against that. My only reason for optimism is that MS has said on several occassions that they see the future as all digital. For that to work, it simply has to be priced competitively. Assuming MS bring in the digital marketplace that I've seen mentioned around, that in itself would be all the incentive publishers need to price games at least at the same price as retail. If someone buys a game from retail, they can sell it and trade it without the publisher seeing another penny from it. If the game is bought digitally however, and can be sold on, then the publishers can take a slice of that 2nd hand sale as well.

I'm not saying it will definitely happen, but I think it might. It will take some work from MS to make happen, as well as support from 3rd party publishers, but I think a move to all digital will eventually happen.

The best thing they could have done from a customer service point is created some kind of reserve list, so that if somebody cancels their pre-order, which is bound to happen, they can swap him over to the pack he wants.

I was a fan of Shopto, but I do find their customer service pretty lacking when I've had to contact them also.

email from shopto, guess you guys should have waited a bit ;)

I'm the opposite actually, I've found them to be awesome. I had to contact them once as some points hadn't applied to my account properly after a multi-game order. They not only added the points inside an hour, they added some extra that I hadn't noticed. Couldn't complain about that.

Ive found ShopTo awful with their customer service, even had the cheek to imply I was a thief when 2 orders in a row went missing. I enjoyed them squirming out of the preorder promise they had because I couldnt prove it hadnt turned up on time when I had to fill out a lost parcel form

That and when they were hacked ages ago has put me right off them...

ps3ud0

As above, Shopto have reallocated some F5 edition stock. (I actually doubt they have worked "closely" with MS to acquire more, more like they took some stock from their bundles).

So if you wanna swap, now's the time (again). No excuses ;)
