I take it back Hunters the one to have for attack and Shadow for defence!

Such a shame EA left this as shallow stat increases, would have been actually cool if it affected workrates (i.e. Engine equalises workrates) or even skill moves/weak foot (i.e. Artist adds +1 skill move; or Finisher adds +1 weak foot), would actually have been 'styles' then rather than stat boosts...

ps3ud0

anchor looks more well rounded for defence than shadow

same goes for marksman and hunters for strikers, marksman more well rounded

i would use shadow on defensive mids and full backs

shame there is no +3 pace and +3 dribble other wise i would use that on wingers

looks like Hunter for wingers then

as for GK ones, i would go for the tallest keeper with decent stats then boost the ones that are weaker.

but tbh it all depends on how the "new" engine plays but UT has always been about pace so im guessing that is what matters most again.

I played one game just vs the AI, not much is different really. The players seem a lot less agile and the close control appears none existent, very easy to tackle/get tackled. Shooting seemed the same and it was easy to score.

Beta I have 16 packs to open, I got Hart, Schurrle and some other guys.

Had a feeling it would be the same, hopefully the next gen version feels better.

Thought Dan said the beta was under NDA? Or was he just being a DG and pretending he was in the know?

There's countless videos of the new game on youtube and most of the popular youtubers have discussed it in depth so the NDA thing is complete balls in my opinion.

There's nothing to give anyway really, the whole interface is exactly as expected, i.e same as the old but looks a bit nicer. The gameplay is pretty identical to 13. Like I said, hard to judge just playing 1 game and I hate playing AI anyway.

I still cant believe Silva is still that highly rated in FIFA 14

Which is why I said Hunter and Shadow - biggest pace boosts :p

Appreciated Andy, think we hated 13 for the same reasons so be interesting what you think - not impressed with what youve said so far though :(

Sod UT, I'm really looking forward to the career mode in Fifa 14. I really like the look of the global scouting system. I don't think it'll be overly useful straight away as I think we all know the players we'd want to try and buy, but after a couple of seasons when there are a load of new gen players, it should prove very handy.

Is the FUT pace the same as FIFA 13? AKA Arcade style? Does player still take that dreadful first touch? is the AI (your team) still completely dumb in terms of positional awareness and falling over the ball/players, are red cards actually going to be red cards on this game.. especially bringing the keeper out to clobber somebody. Is it going to be pace abused?

i have many questions i'd love to have answered, 5 minutes of playing 13 to refresh my tiredself would enable me to reel them off.

they are the biggest pace boosts but how much of a difference would +3 have compared to +2?

i imagine the +2 to heading would be better to have as a CB and as a ST alongside the other 2 boosts one of which is +2 pace, rather than +3 Pace and another +3 boost.

otherwise the player's can become too 1 dimensional, unless of course the player you pick already has high heading stats, then i agree a +3 pace alongside another +3 boost would be most beneficial.

again the boosts you will need to cater to the player, to make the player's as well rounded as possible.

because as we all know, pace doesn't work 100% of the time and it's good to have a back up plan, that's why i like to ping crosses in, etc as well as through balls.

they have always made it impossible to send a keeper off for some reason.

suppose it could be too easily abused.

all you would need to do is when your through on goal, knock the ball past and run into the keeper (like they do in real life), insta red and a penalty, so you get the goal plus they are down a man.

say you do this several times during a game, you could demolish other teams quite easily forcing the ref to abandon the game.

so i think they leave it this way as it leaves the game less prone to abuse.

UT will always be overpowered compared to the normal fifa, it's just because it makes it more exciting, more unpredictable as essentially terrible players still have a chance in UT because player's are so overpowered.

Walcott permanently 99 pace lol once you apply the +3 pace card.

Pace isn't everything though as people know Walcott is slower than Gervinho for example.

Balance, Dribbling and Ball Control all have an effect on a player's in game speed on the ball, as well as how "one footed" they are.

This is why Hulk feels slow as well because he is so one footed in the game

Hulk feels slow because his agility is only in the 70's, you need acceleration, agility and sprint speed in the 80+ range for players to feel fast, walcott meets all those.

isn't agility more to do with turning?

i agree on acceleration and sprint speed though in combo with the above.

i just want the old lavezzi back of 2 years ago, the amount of people i destroyed by just running down that right wing was hilarious, never had a player been so overpowered, didn't matter what LB they had either, nobody could catch him when i got him on the ball.

Agility basically effects the speed at which they do everything, I always wondered why Hulk felt slow and had a look on the EA forums where someone explained the low agility is what causes it. It can be tested out with other players who have high pace but low agility as well.

I bought IF Ben Arfa today and surprise surprise feels no different to his NIF.

Aubameyang has 95 pace in 14. Dortmund look like a good pace abuse team.

Fastest player in the game has 97 pace and isn't even in 13. His name is Mathis Gazoa Kippersund Bolly and he is a 66 rated LW Silver player.
