Ever been mugged or had someone attempt to mug you

Dodgy looking guy asked "hey brother" the other night down a quiet dark street. Chances are he wanted money, map directions or the time. Not getting my phone out nor my £1 coin for the shopping trolley. I just carried on and replied "I'm good thanks". :o

Left a club in Brixton at 3am, friends were staying longer but I was fairly ill.

Walking home alone drunk is never a good idea, so I deserved it.

Pretty black girl started walking alongside me, chatting, stroking my back etc. Slipped her hand into my pocket and pulled out a couple notes (£40 or so). I turned to protest and found myself facing three large black dudes. Turned and walked away.

They left the expensive watch, wallet and phone, so wasn't all bad. I know people here like to act tough, or have some plan... But no amount of money is worth risking your life for.

I was walking back to school with my friends one lunchtime when a gang of older lads bounded over. Someone put something against my throat and told me to hand over my money. Those combs that look like flick-knives were very popular at the time, so confidently I said 'its just a comb!' and reached to push it away. Turns out it wasn't a comb at all. Luckily my 'muggers' were so amused they just laughed and walked off saying I was a 'retard'.

A retard with POCKET MONEY though.

Eton is a rough place !

Two experiences of muggings. Some 'youths' told me to give them my phone/wallet. I told them to **** off and carried on walking. Clearly amateurs.

The second one actually flabbergasted me that I was the only one who did anything. I was walking home from work on a fairly busy street and about 50m ahead I saw a drunken chav snatch a bag from a lady. Loads of people stood there and did absolutely nothing. The lady was a bit stunned and just kind of stood there watching him walk off nonchalantly and in my direction. As he passed me I kind of shoulder barged into him as he tried to get by, he fell over in his drunkenness and I picked up the bag and returned it to the lady. I felt like a champion after that. :D

On the way back from a gig at about 1:30am, on the train from Kings Cross to Bedford. Stopped at the Lavendon station (I believe) and my friend I was with asked this bloke for the time. The guy got very aggressive, very fast. Had my friend up against the the seperator near the train doors. As much as I would have liked to say I helped him, I was honestly scared something bad would happen, so, being a bad friend, I just sat there and kept quiet.

The guy then came over to me, asked my friend if he knows who I am, my friend said no idea (Hoping that this guy would leave me alone and not bother me at all).

He then got up in my face and demanded I gave him my phone, a ****** ZTE Tureis, I said to him "Fine, just let me take the sim out first", while I was in the process of taking the sim out some people came over to us asked if we were okay. Straight away said to them "Well, yeah other than this guy wanting my phone"

Next thing I know, he's on the floor in cuffs and about 5/6 more undercover transport police are piling into the carriage and bundled on top of him.

Trying to give a statement about 2 metres from this guy who is trying to flail around like a fish in a net was quite distracting...

Anyway, fast forward a couple of months! I got a letter through the post. Opened it up to find that he has been jailed for 3 years for numerous cases of the same sort of offense. Result!

Way back when I was barely a teen, I was stopped by the Police as I was doing my paper round. They demanded to check my bag of newspapers, took the ones they wanted and then buggered off. I'd call that a mugging and a distinct abuse of power.

Had a few issues with ****** trying to steal diesel from my truck whilst I've been sleeping in it, not exactly a mugging as such, climbing out of the cab with a large metal bar persuaded them to depart quickly!

Another time, last year,I had just got up, about 4am, just about starting to get light, I climbed out of my cab to do my usual walk around check of the vehicle when I came upon somebody in the process of cutting the curtain on my trailer!
He'd seen me just before I saw him and he was mid way through lunging at me as I clocked him, I managed to step back just enough to think he'd missed me and I hit him, left him on the deck and decided to get in the truck and do one, in something resembling shock I suppose.
Only once driving did it occur to me that he'd just nicked my face with his Stanley knife as I had blood down my face, shirt and on my steering wheel.

Fuming, I Span the rig around at the next roundabout and went back to the layby where I'd been parked but he'd gone. Good job, in my rage I probably would have done something really silly to him.

All part of the fun being a trucker!!

Was nearly just mugged, was walking back home from my dad house with nothing on me but a bag with a few electronic items. Some woman came up to me and said she had been attacked and wanted help. She had a black eye as well, maybe might have been makeup. If she wanted help she could have just walked into the shop. She also looked very dodgy with scruffy hair and clothes. Also I knew that you won't get bruising instantly from a physical attack. After I said to her that you should go to the shop ( that was still open), she started chasing me. Then a teenager from behind started running at me full pace. So I literally just legged it back home, and he was still following until I managed to open my door.

Was the strangest thing I have ever experienced, I guess these people wanted to make people feel like it wasn't an attempt at a mugging. But it was so obvious to me as what she was saying was complete horse crap.

I did report it to the police, I know there are a few police officers on here and I wonder if they know of any similar things happening. Also it would be interesting if you have experienced anything like this.

This did happen in a very dim lit area, and on the bad side of the estate. I really don't feel comfortable walking past that shop anymore at night.

You run to your front door when you're getting mugged? letting the mugger know where you live

Robbed at knife point when I was 15 for around £18. Bloke was a similar age to me and actually told me his name. My mum made me go to the police and the next day we went in to look at some pictures. AS we are sat waiting to get in he walks out with about 5 people in my year at school, you know the type who are all wide boys.

Made my last year of school hell tbh. They all bullied me about it. He got nothing for it they did not even arrest him. I bumped into him a year later and he threatened me this time with a snooker ball in a sock. Managed to talk my way out of it somehow.

I am not a fighter really and this really knocked my confidence. I was scared to go anywhere incase I bumped into him.

This is so ******. Really made me feel bad.

Yeah. I was about 12 walking through a busy shopping centre in the middle of the day on a Saturday. Three older lads mugged me for all of about £4 that was my fare home and for some sweets. Got several punches in the face, bust nose, bust lip, that kind of thing. Nothing too serious.

Plenty of people around, none of them did a thing. My Mum reported it and as I recall they lifted the three lads after watching CCTV. I was more annoyed that people stood and watched.

Had trouble from a couple of lads when I did a paper round. One of them confronted me years later when I was walking down the road on my 18th birthday, but he hadn't seen my older brother having a wazz just behind me, so he got his ass handed to him by our kid. The next time he saw me he left his infant in a pram  to come and confront me with "where's your brother now, eh?" but as I was older by this point we were pretty evenly matched and nothing happened. Had he not had his kid with him I would've gone for him. I'd do it now TBH, the thought of the ugly **** makes my blood boil.

Would be good if we could carry guns like in the states. You could legally then defend yourself, that would change things a bit.
