Ever been mugged or had someone attempt to mug you

Whislt stationed in Singapore, my father and his chum (who was the garrison boxing champion) was confronted with a local chap with a large sword.
My fathers mate hit this chap to the side of the head and he went down only to fall throat first onto the blade.
The would be mugger blead to death in front of them, of course they did try and help after a while (snigger)
They had two bottles of beer to drink and did not want them to get cold.
My dad was the garrisons NCO and he just let the mp's know where the body was.
:p

Well that's an appalling story, accidental or not.

I was mugged 3-4 years ago while on my way home from work. Noticed a group of about 7-8 lads on the bus on the way back from the centre of town and decided to just keep my eye on them. Something didn't seem right, they all had their hoods up and that particular bus was usually full of students going to warwick uni anyway.

Got to my stop, got off and after walking a bit noticed that the lads had got off as well and were following me. I pretended I hadn't noticed and just held on to my bag that little bit tighter. Nothing happened until I'd just turned into my road. Some of the lads split off and crossed the road while the others stayed behind me. 'Oh dear, here we go' I thought. Walked past a few more houses and then it happened.

My hood was pulled over my head and I heard one of them saying that they just wanted my phone. That instantly made me angry. Angry that they wanted my phone, angry that it took 7-8 of them to mug someone shorter than them and angry that they dare do it in my own area. So I started shouting as loud as I could. A mixture of 'help!' and '**** off you bunch of *****!'. Dogs started barking, doors started opening and out of one door came my sister and brother in law at high speed.

One group of lads went one way while the rest went the other, hotly pursued by my sis and bro in law. One of the lads was a bit slower than the rest and as he started to run I went to grab him. Luckily I missed, I was so angry that if I had caught him, I think I would have caused some serious damage. None of the other lads were caught either, they'd scarpered pretty quickly.

The police were called and came round to take statements and such. But even though pretty much all of the route home from town was covered with cctv, they could never get a positive identification due to the hoodies.
The next day I went to and from work in a taxi and did so until I passed my driving test. I'm still very wary about going on buses even now and will drive everywhere I can.

Thinking back though, there were 7-8 of them and one of me. They could quite have easily stabbed me during the scuffle and if they hadn't have mugged me in my own road, then things could have been a lot different.

yeah its like making constant references to smoking some weed...

Is that some kind of dig? What I've written is an accurate breakdown of the evening's events, and smoking cannabis was something I did as a teenager, and featured in what occured. There's no attempted bravado in that beyond what you've mistakenly implied, and the mentions are hardly "constant". I don't know why you feel the need to respond so belittlingly, but I can assure it's misguided.

Personally, I don't touch the stuff -- nor any illegal drugs, for that matter, anymore. Nicotine and alcohol do me just fine these days, thank you very much! :)

The guy in question was found to be a wanted murderer btw.
He had a few weeks period killed 2 young girls in the jungle after he raped them.
Like I said yin and yan.:p

I don't care what he's done. You don't stand and watch a man bleed to death and laugh, then follow it up with a beer. Sounds like your father has something wrong with him.

That was his way, and they were mighty drunk.
I can say though I would have done the same thing.
Sorry to be honest but it is true.
Prehaps it was better for would be mugger to have killed two innocent blokes as well.
Do you support the green party by any chance?

They didn't know what the guy's supposed history was, and no amount of drunkenness could justify letting a man bleed to death. Definitely something unhinged imo.

I heard it's a true story but the guy was really asking if they wanted to buy a coconut and waving his machete around that he used to chop the coconuts open.

in their drunken haze 2 soldiers misheard "do you want buy coconut" for "give me beer" and attacked the innocent man

Maybe

But the strange end to the tale is the local police took the glory saying they had fought this chap whilst trying to arrest him and he died from his wounds.
Was a strange world back then, suppose my dad seeing his best mate blown up by a terroist sort of warped him a bit.
