Ever been mugged or had someone attempt to mug you

I was mugged or held up in Manchester city centre when I was about 13. Group of 6-8 lads managed to isolate me from my friends and then surround me. The lead lad then gestured towards having what looked like a knife in his pocket and so I handed over my Kahuna watch to them. Fortunately they must've got spooked as I had around £200 in my wallet which they didnt get!

In hindsight he probably didnt have anything in his pocket, but I wasnt about to argue.

Often in these situations if you smash the 'lead lads' face in the others will get scared and leave it. Of course it could go wrong and they could still kick you in a bit but either way at least you gave one of em a good old smack :p

Was mugged back at the end of May it was early evening and just 100 meters from my front door by 3 teenagers. (Aylesbury Estate, SE17 London) They took my laptop, wallet with at least £100, house & shop keys, mobile phone and earphones.

I just knew I was never going to be able to take 3 guys on (weighing only 60KG no chance) so I let them take their pick!

Called Police and they came and did a drive around but lead to nothing. However a week or two later my phone was found during a routine stop and search on some guy. Not one of the thieves that my stuff but Police said they couldn't do anything to him and had to let him go.

I was lucky I was insured and had only just backed up my laptop a month prior to incident. But psychologically it does its damage!

I've moved away from the area now.....

lol which/post one is uncle BS lol

I count a good few on here, but the main one is the punching the guy > falling onto his own machete > laughing and making sure their beer doesn't get cold and no further action taken.

For some reason GD always seems to surprise me.

from living in a really rough area of Nottingham and knowing the types of people that used to mug people I'd call BS on that and you would likely get one hell of a beating if not stabbed by a screw driver a lot of those types carry around for breaking into cars.
a lot of people around 14-18 will happily stab you without thinking about the consequences

if it's just 1-3 guys you could likely whack the lead guy and run away but if it's a whole gang I think it's the stupidest thing you can do no one likes to get whacked in front of their mates and their mates aren't likely to just stand and watch

I live in Croydon so am not exactly unaware of what happens in these situations:p, however i will always put up a fight

Had my bike stolen whilst I was doing my paper round around 15 years ago.

Pulled up to a house - which had a short drive, gate + step. It wasn't even a drive really more a path.So put my bike down and a guy who was waiting for it ran and picked it up. Saw that it was happening and ran after him. I used to be pretty quick especially over long distance - this is before my ACL snapped and I've gotten fat :p

Ran after him across a busy main road shouting at him. Another guy on a bike asked what was happening and gave chase too. Followed down into my road, down an alley and saw my bike going up a hill. The guy tried to get on the pavement, messed it up and buckeled + punctured the wheel then ran off. I knew who did it and he knew where I lived so I called him a **** and left it at that.

He saw me out and about a few years later in the pub and bragged about it. Told him what I thought of him and left it at that. He looked quite stunned.

Never fixed the bike up or obviously rode it again. It's still in my dads garage!

Never actually been mugged, been attacked a few times on nights out etc from drunken show offs, but always come out on top lol

I did think I was going to be robbed and killed one time wandering around a polish estate/project/ghetto at about 4am, even took all my money and cards and gold off to store in my sock lol.

Turned out I'd seen too many movies and was just being paranoid lol.

Much more to this story, including being chased by pimps, "scoring" fake drugs, getting a ride with a polish "football fanatic" (which basically meant organised hooligan) and getting racially abused by random drunken women, but obviously can't go into detail on here :D

Also, wtf is a sand dog maker?!

Dont encourage him mate. It's pointless, my parents told me stories when i was a child. Mainly of the easter bunny and Santa. I grew out of these. Some people just cannot.

This is something else that happened on my paper round too, also about 13-15 years ago.

I went in to deliver a paper, my friend was holding my bike and someone jumped out of a car, snatched it off him and rode off down the hill. I must have been followed around or tailed for them to know I would be there.

I didn't even know what to say, couldn't believe it and i just finished my round in disbelief, wasn't even upset.

I ended up in our local evening post and some place offered to give me a bike for free from a bunch of stolen unclaimed bikes.

The thing is about 3-4 months later i was playing football with a mate and kicked a ball near someone by accident who was walking down the road and he said to me "Kick the ball near me once more and i'll get my mates to nick your bike again." Never did anything about it though and i still hold a grudge today 15 years later. ****

So yeah, got mugged for my phone and a year later had my bike nicked, I don't know why I bothered to carry on doing the paper round until i left school, probably lost more money through getting both those nicked than i did in 3 years of doing paper rounds, at least nothing else happened to me aside from those 2 incidents.

I was accosted in an alley way cut through when I was 15 by two other teenagers. They asked me to empty my pockets but I had nothing on me (i was still on pocket money at the time and this was way before everyone had mobile phones) so they just let me on my way.

A friend was mugged in the city centre when he was about 15 and all he had to give them was a fiver. 30 minutes later he saw them again and they gave him his fiver back after they said they felt guilty robbing a teenager of such a small amount.

We have polite muggers in Oxfordshire.

I can't remember if I have shared this story with OCUK Forum before and I'm not sure it classifies as a mugging, but something was stolen from me.

Scene: 1998 Bulgaria. I am on business for 6 months visiting factories. Meet girl. (For this instance we will call her Betty)

One night I am out with Betty and one of her friends and Betty is getting worried that we are being followed by one of the Security guys (doormen) from the bar where she works. He has been pestering her for a date and telling people they are a couple.

This chap follows us and watches us in 3 different bars and by the fourth Betty(and I are getting a little worried)

Luckily at the bar we are now in she says she knows a guy that will help us and goes off to have a chat a severely dodgy looking bloke, accompanied by three other dodgy looking blokes then comes back and sits down.

A while passes then this Security stalker bloke comes walking into the bar, shouting and grabs hold of Betty's arm and tries to drag her away. (I am terrified)

Then 2 of the dodgy looking geezers appear at the table with guns drawn aimed at stalkers head and body. They drag him off and I'm thinking, Jesus Christ that was scary.

After 5-10 minutes the geezers return to bar and their previous seats next to the bloke who Betty said would help and they call her over.

Me and her friend can't see Betty from where we are sat and eventuall her friend goes to find her to see if she is alright.

SHe comes back with very bad news. The man, and his gun happy friends, are Bulgarian mafia and the one who Betty knows has decided that as repayment for helping her out, she will now become his girlfriend.

Me and her friend are told to leave immediately and go home. Although worried for Betty's welfare we are given no choice so return to the apartment me and Betty are renting.

Betty returns four hours later (5:30-ish a.m.) in floods of tears and tells us they have brought her back so she can pack her belongings and go back with them (They are parked outside in a Merc, 2 men proverbially dressed in black looking very tough)

Betty has been told if she does not go with the men they will hurt her, her friends and family so goes away with them again.

2 days later I get a visit telling me it would be a good idea if i returned England (ie: An accident might happen if I don't)

Sent letters from England but never heard from her again.

I'm unsure whether having a girl stolen counts as mugging or not?
