********* The Official GTA V (5) thread! *********

What is the fascination with getting things before the release date? :p.

The only thing I've ever received early was Doom III way back, which turned up a week early.

Everything else is here on release day, like you paid for.

If you have a chance of getting it early if you order from one place but not another. Why wouldn't you order from the earlier delivery place (assuming same price etc.)

I hope mine comes a day early as I have Tuesday off so could play as late I can stay awake as no early morning. If it actually comes on Tuesday it means waiting for Mr. Postman to turn up at 1pm to play it. While that is what I hope for as long as it is delivered by Tues I will be happy. For that reason I didn't order from Tesco lol.

Just think of the poor postman though they are going to have to carry and deliver 40 billion trillion copies of gta v on Tuesday.

p.s. the number may be an over exageration.

Anyone know what the general feeling is on which version of the game will be technically better? I remember buying GTA4 on 360 and PS3 and the 360 version was slightly better graphically. Better contrast and sharper if I remember correctly. Although I think the PS3 version had a slightly better framerate?

I've heard that the PS3 version was the lead platform this time round so maybe things will be different. Hmmm might just wait for a few comparison reviews before buying. Just want to make sure I get the better version. No way I can wait long enough for the PC release :)

Just get it on whatever system you prefer using, the gameplay will be the same so any minor gfx difference won't matter.

I want to get a 360 controller for the PS3, is there a decent copy of it for this? I find the standard controller too small.

I am sure someone will correct me but I didn't think the whole map had been revealed. Which is what caused the second city idea ( which was later confirmed to be false)

Its only been shown on the PS3 in gameplay/staged demos etc so far, maybe lead platform maybe not.

It's been a fair few years since then, I'm sure R* have it right now.

GTAIV was pretty fresh to that engine.

pop-up has been mentioned a few times but only on distant objects, like mountains and such nothing that will pop up 2cm in front of you. (hopefully)

As said previously, just go with the platform you prefer. Not a long wait now :)

Agreed, it should be an awesome game on either platform.

Predictions for review scores chaps? I'm going for something like 9.8 (or 98%) from the sites like Gamespot and IGN.

I think IGN will give it a 10, they seem pretty awestruck by it (and might be paid to do so ;)).

Overall I think it'll average 98%~.

Then again, it might be a huge letdown... :p

Never really cared about scores, most are fake or bought.

If it was based on what I've seen/read then anything under a 9.5/10 is robbing this game of it's accomplishments, but I'm a fan so can't give an un-biased view.

For me personally, the music is a let down this time around but easily fixed.

Just want it...now!!!

The best place to go then might be the smaller independents. I can guarantee that the vast majority of those sites are not bought. I know because I used to work for some of them. Hell, I used to run an independent review site. In all my time contacting devs and publishers, I was never once offered any incentive for a favourable review. If any had done so I would've refused and reviewed it out of my own money. All the other journos I know are the same.

I think the biggest case of this in recent memory was PC Gamer's review of Dragon Age 2, it was almost like EA had written it as a marketing exercise. :p
