Could Volcanic Islands based AMD with a 22nm SOI design featuring 2304 to 2560 stream processors be

Spoke to a former colleague of mine who works in the industry now, and according to him there's more to the rumour than we think!! Didn't go into specifics but ruled out the Volcanic Islands rumour, but suggested pretty much along the lines of something relating to crossfire.

As ever, take with a grain of salt but I will say I have known this person for the best part of 10 years, and isn't the type to make stuff up.

How embarrassing if this actually turns out to be true :o

I vote all non believers should be banned from this thread. This thread should be reserved for the true believers, not the it could be possiblers, not the I think so'ers! Only the true I know so'ers should be allowed. Let us bask us the warmth of this volcano as it erupts and covers us all in uber spec consoles and with its emense power smite the nay sayers. Let us go forth to the world and spread the word - The xbox one is number one, the best! The most powerful console ever made and definately more powerful than that pile of Sony detritus they call the PS4! When all non believers are gone we can worship our one true leader - the volcano gpu!

that rung a bell, i cant remember the details but i think i read something similar to crossfire but not gpu related, like two other chips working together. i could and probably am mixing this up with something else entirely so dont take much notice.

I've been watching videos with Pach, who a stock market 'expert' that advice people on investments in the gaming market.

He says that production of consoles normally start 3 months before release date and 6 months before release date is when they (the console manufactures) put together their final bill of material for the parts manufacturers to produce and ship to China for assembly. Certain things like hdd size can be delayed till later so they can get more value for their buck, but a custom APU can't; unless they don't mind a lack of stock.

Was the Volcanic Island in any state to for microsoft to sign off on it in June for AMD to start making the APU with it built in?

The last minute cpu speed boost may have be microsoft's ace up the sleeve, with them thinking that was enough to wow the public. If its was really last minute; maybe microsoft don't tweak as much as they would like people to believe or they got miley cyrus to twerk or over it.

Anyway.. I've had confirmation from an old man in a red suite ridding a red noise reindeer that the xbox one does have a volcanic island built into the APU.

I reckon theres not a current gen gpu under there but another one of the existing ones or a cpgpu type co-processor that simply does particles etc.
