********* The Official GTA V (5) thread! *********

Thought this was worth repeating in case anyone late to the party had missed it; there's a mandatory install of approximately 8GB for both the 360 and PS3 versions of the game. The 360 version comes on two discs; disc 1 will be used solely to install data to the HDD (or flash drive) and disc 2 is used to play the game, though you can (and should) of course install that disc to improve performance and reduce disc noise if you have the free space. On the PS3, it's one disc.

I bet many people will fall into the trap of not having enough space. How many 4GB 360's did they sell I wonder.

Quite a lot I would think, it was a pretty cheap deal as I remember.

Thankfully I've got plenty of space so I'll be installing both disks. If the game arrives before lunchtime next Tuesday I'll be popping home for my lunch to install the game, so that I don't have to waste time when I get home. Sad maybe, but I don't care :D

Forgot to mention, you can get a Lexar 32GB flash drive (find it on HotUKDeals) for about £10 at the moment, would be ideal for installing both Xbox discs plus any later DLC/updates for the game.

It's easy while disk 1 is installing run around grabbing drinks and snacks as you know you wont be moving for a while. Make sure you are back before it finishes so you don't waste any time. Instal disk 2 while sitting there watching it so as soon as it is done you can play :D

Thursday is going to be my worst day, 2 days off with the lovely game then got to go to work :( but booked a long weekend off to make up for it :)

Installing?!
Disc 1?!

The PS3 I bought is a 12GB slim, does that mean I'm going to have to endure long load times off the disc?

Do the 12 GBs even have 8GB free after the OS/reserved space/formatting loss? :p

Glad I stuck a 500GB drive in mine, wouldn't be much room for anything else otherwise after a GTAV install.

As far as I know it does, it's actually a 16GB chip but about 4GB is reserved for caching already, so the 12GB (or thereabouts) should be available to the user. Will be enough for GTA5 and any updates at least, but mrk will need to check.
