*** iPhone 5S/5C - September 10th ***

For anyone who was interested in trading in their old phone (rather then private sell) towards a new one - Three UK are running a £50 promotion with Mazuma Mobile - £50 on top of the usual trade in price when you use a code generated with all new 24 month contracts taken out with Three UK in September.

Not worth it for trading in a 4s or 5 (probably) but I'm sending in an old 3gs thats worth peanuts really and getting a nice £50 ontop of the usual £74 trade in :D

The Apple 'non' is just odd, Steve Jobs would never have let that through :p

Non, non, non, non! :p

haha, the android devices are very stable and robust now.

You can even setup the UI to look and behave like an ios if your missus really loves the UI of an IOS :)

Nothing to do with it not being robust, stable etc. I just don't like the way Android does things. It's like me trying to use Mac OS after being a Windows user since I started using a computer, it's alien to me. I think that's pretty simple to understand? :)

And why would you suggest buying a phone to hack it to make it look like another? Just buy the one you wanted in the first place.

Yeah, you have to think that Steve Jobs would have prevented a lot of stuff being released in the last couple of years.

Tim Cook is definitely more about the money than the products/innovation

I'll be upgrading from the 4s. Not that my phone is slow or anything, but I like to change on the 2 year cycle. I like the fingerprint scanner etc, but I find it more as novelty.

I feel once the phone is at Apple stores, they'll be in accessible as some plank will scan is finger to unlock the phones, and then you'll need his finger only.

Unless, there is a special way, to absolutely deactivate it permanently.

The only thing that's semi tempting for me is the better camera, I have a 64gb 4s and it still works perfectly, phones in some ways are good enough for what I use them for now, which is calls, music, taking pictures and videos and some light gaming.
I still don't get 3D action games etc on a small device with awkward controls, after playing them on the PC it feels like I have regressed to a beginner with keyboard turning and painfully slow aiming compared to mouse look and WASD. Though I suppose some people must enjoy it otherwise they wouldn't be popular. I feel phones work best with games like plants vs zombies or bike race angry birds flight control boggle etc.
I might get a second hand 5 but he 5s doesn't seem worth the £709 to upgrade!

I think the finger print scanner for unlocking the device is a really decent added bit of tech and I hope other manufacturers follow suit. Lack of NFC is still a head scratcher. Other than that, meh.

What I what I really don't get is their pricing strategy for 5c/5s. They seem to have priced the 5c out of the market.

If you're buying outright and already spending that much on a phone, why would you not pay the extra £70 for a substantially better phone (at least in perceived quality)?

Also because the prices are so similar I'd imagine the contracts will be the same price but you have to pay slightly more upfront for the 5s.

I personally would have preferred them to just do what they normally do, keep the last generation of iPhone and stick it at around £429.

The pricing just seems so backwards.

Must be or all the test phones in the stores would be locked with random 4 digit codes!

I don't know how that will be different to someone entering in a 4-digit passcode on a demo unit.

for those that are upgrading to the 5S what colour you going for?? Do you reckon the new black/graphite will chip as bad as the current slate one?

I can't be bothered with the debate around Apple v Android and it would honestly be nice to have a thread about a new Apple iPhone not derailed.

This.

The thread isn't supposed to be about anything other than the new iPhone. Everyone wanting to give it the large should do one!

It looks very productive.

The new cases and fingerprint technology will increase my productivity for sure.
