hi peeps , so i have just completed my first new build and everything seems to work fine except my problem with my internal hard drive . i have windows installed on an 128 gb ssd . while installing windows i had the option to install on HDD , so i know it is working . But i am unable to install any programs on it or saves files to it .

the hard drive is visible in device manager and bios , but i am confused about how i can make it usable.

i am using windows 8 64bit

. i shall post pics of device manager to show that the hard drive is detected and a pic of the my computer windows which does not list the hard drive

thank you in advance for taking time to view and reply with any ideas on how to resolve this issue

look in disk management

then if the drive shows up there right click it and initialise it or assign a new drive letter to it,it will then show up in windows and you can access it

If it's a brand new drive, then you will need to format it under Disk Management, since it's in a raw state at the moment.

Also, your network driver needs updating :p.

yeah just installed network adapter drivers . so I went to the disk management but the hdd does not appear there , but is still listed under the device manager

i am unable to view the hdd within disk management to format it . i can only see it as present on the device manager and on the bios program when i press f2 during bootup

ok i found the problem , while going through all the disk options in control panel i came to an option for storage spaces and noticed that my 1tb hdd was being used for a storage pool . i removed it from this option and now have the options in disk management to format and assign drive letter
