********* The Official GTA V (5) thread! *********

Rockstar: "The map is bigger than GTA IV, SA & RDR combined."

Poster on message board: "Pfft, map isn't that big, this jpeg confirms it."

Exactly. Regardless of how it looks, it's absolutely massive. I can't believe how big it actually will be. I remember thinking San Andreas was huge!

Yup, it's not just going to be big, it's going to be really dense in the downtown area too by the looks of it. Also, this is released on a Tuesday, Domino's have 2 for 1 on Tuesday, coincidence... :D

Just seen this on Twitter regarding the map size...

"@theGTAbase: GTA map sizes GTA3: 3 sq miles GTAVC: 3.5 sq miles GTASA: 13.6 sq miles GTA IV: 6.8 sq miles #GTAV: 50 sq miles"

Yeah, safe to say it's pretty damn huge!

In that case it is quite large then, ARMA 3's Altis map is 104 sq miles and that is absolutely huge.

Tremendous! :D

I'm not sure why it's getting compared to ARMA, though (not you specifically). As a general rule the vast majority of the GTA landscape will have been carefully thought out, in my experience ARMA isn't really like this.

They're totally different sorts of games, too. GTA just has a massively different feel and vibe, if you know what I mean.

I wasn't comparing the games at all just simply saying GTA V map must be big as it's half the size of ARMA's map and that is ridiculously big.

I already have a PS3, but I'm not sure whether to buy an Xbox 360 just for this game. I already have 2 years of XBL, and I would like to play with my friends online who tend to play 360 now instead of PS3. I don't know if I can justify it for one game.

I know you weren't specifically, but I think Aeleys said some people on a GTA forum were, or something.

The sq miles thing really puts the size against San Andreas in perspective.

I've got four more shifts and then I'm off Tuesday & Wednesday, working Thursday night, off Friday for freshers week :D, messy and can recover playing GTA V ;).

Bring it the **** on , I've got so many people to meet at Freshers (Facebook is amazing at times) :).
