None of those sound useful? Custom DPI? What would that achieve over the stock rom?

Hey not been funny, just does not sound impressive enough to try a custom rom.

To be fair if you're happy with it running on stock and none of the added features appeal to you then leave it as it is, some people just love to tweak and play with things.
I've tried Pacman but found the sheer number of things you can change just a bit too much and I like to know everything will work when I want it so I went back to a TW based custom ROM that has a couple of tweaks from stock such as extended reboot menus and things but nothing major.

Lol sounds like you'd be better off with a Galaxy Ace.

Only joking. :p

If your happy with the ROM your on then stick with it. I've had touchwiz roms for ages and I'm just bored with them now.

And everything I need works on PACMan just like it should - otherwise I wouldn't be using it.

Note 3 for me next!! :p

Probably scared of losing the Samsung appeal I get from the S4, it just works for me. Like somebody mentioned about there seems to be an endless possibilities to customise non stock roms. I just want it to work with out having to install and mess about with the UI, hope that makes sense :o

If I wanted a basic device I would have purchased a Nexus device. But apples and oranges, everybody is different and some prefer the customisation custom roms gives you!

Well, I initially thought the same about people buying GE s4's or ONE's. ....... BUT, the nexus 4 doesnt have a 5" 1080p screen, and that counts for a lot so i was wrong, really. Dont agree with the cost of the GE S4 but i can see the appeal of the hardware and stock OS combination

What features did you gain going to pacman?

So many to list!

* Themable
* per-app dpi with the ability to run individual apps full-screen (no statusbar)
* per-app statusbar colouring
* custom boot animations
* custom carrier lables
* turn off wake-up when the charger is plugged in
* much better lockscreen customisation without having to install a 3rd party lock app
* Navigation bar (I dont use it)
* Power menu customisation
* Appbar (slide out bar with favourite apps, configurable)
* Ribbons (shortcuts in various apps and/or by sliding from the side of the screen)
* Pie control
* Halo notifications from paranoid android
* Better configuration of the shortcuts andtoggles in the notification drawer
* custom notification drawer background
* custom battery icons / clock options / signal meter
* breathing notifications on the status bar
* per-app hardware acceleration for those apps that dont play ball
* gesture navigations (shortcuts to apps, launched with gestures drawn on the screen)
* init.d script options which allow you to run certain scripts at bootup to optimise the OS
* custom hardware button actions
* per-app led notification colours
* custom vibration patterns (not sure if that exists in TW roms though)
* CRT-off animations
* custom auto-brightness control
* Fancy listview stuff (pretty effects when viewing lists....i don use it)
* multiple user profiles
* per-app privacy guard which allows toy to block individual permissions

There's probably more....

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250824

After moving to AOSP/CM I am missing the flip to mute feature of the Samsung ROMs. Can anyone recommend an application which will do this?

Pacman has that feature. Dont know what rom it's pulled from though. dont know of any apps to do it, personally. tasker or llama can probablybe set up to do it i guess

So I've flashed CF Auto Root and going to flash recovery, can I now just down any rom like Android Rev HD and stick that on via CWM?

Yeah but do a nandroid first.

ill try that then matey:)

what rom are you using by the way?

thanks for your help.

this rom also looks nice http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2253528

just so i can understand it better where does it say about whether bootloaders have been removed?

Im just trying to find the MH8 Modem.........im sure i saw a list on XDA of modems..

EDIT all working find and did not have to flash any additional files.
Considering i was a flash freak on the HTC one S i cant believe how different it is ! Im still trying to work out why when i do a full wipe all my folders and stuff are still on the phone. I want it all fresh again now ive flashed roms. Even stuff ive downloaded is still on the phone. Ive done a full wipe from CWM ive done a factory reset on the phone as well.
I'm just running the slim deodex at the moment. You have to check the threads to see if the dev has removed the bootloader, don't assume anything. MH8 rom. Format the SD card to remove the dross.

Thanks for all your help mate, i kinda of had a idea but youve helped immensely.

One other thing can you explain how the phones memory works?

if i go into storage and total space is 9.09gb and i have 6.17gb available......

My ext 16gb sd card is showing as 14.62gb which is usual and i get that. But where is the other half of the phones storage?

is there something blatently obvious im missing?

The 'total' is with no downloaded apps (along with their own cache and data), available is what you have left. The rest of it is taken by a whole bunch of sized partitions all filled (or not) with system, logs, data, imei..... different system apps and files that you can't see without going deep into the root. Now if you had the Google Edition i9505G you'd have 13GB total, same device just less bloat and partitioned differently.
