Looks a bit overpriced to me still (have a look at other eBay listings, I may be wrong) but it's certainly a decent bike.

Just bear in mind when buying a used bike that consumable parts (cassette, chain, brake pads etc) soon add up if they need replacing and that should be factored in to your decision. Also, Google suggests that the Tricross forks were recalled at some point due to an issue with the front brake boss.

Was a bit foggy this morning! Left the house at 7 and back by 9.15. Far too early to ride! :D

Fog? Take a picture when you can't see 10 metres!

I have a newfound hatred for cycling ninjas.

I'm currently doing my driving lessons (yeah yeah, I should have started years ago...) and yesterday was the first time it went fully dark during, and it happened to coincide with a downpour.

I couldn't see a bloody thing. Everything was reflecting off everything else and I saw at least 4 idiots riding around sans lights and dressed in various shades of black.

Effin cyclists! :p

I would be up for some sort of OcUK cycling gathering. Although, we'd need to agree a no dropping policy for those who average 19-20mph on every ride!

I'm going to try and get my license this year... during winter lol we'll see how much my view changes about cyclists..

tbh I do feel like slapping every single cyclist that cycles without lights, high viz clothing is something I don't wear either so I'd be dumb if I was to complain about it.. :o

Did you see me? I had reflective strips on my jersey, my leg warmers, my overshoes, a dayglo yellow vest over my jersey with reflective strips on it, reflective wristbands and front and rear lights.

And I still nearly got hit by two cars. One time was the drivers fault - he'd pulled in at the side of the road, so I passed on the right and he revved off as I was passing and went through on the left of me. The other time was pretty much my fault, as I was passing a queue of cars on the left of them, and as I got to the front of the queue I found they were waiting for a car to turn right across my path.

Note to self - don't pass cars unless you are absolutely sure that both you and they know what is going on.

Haha, I didn't tbh but I'll keep an eye out next time. The weather was terrible though. I'm surprised you went out.

Hmm, tempted by this, but wondering if its worth £15 more than a Castelli winter cap. I'm also concious that I'm rapidly becoming one of "those" cyclists who is decked out in head to to Rapha, though I think I'll stick to Castelli/Assos shorts..

Nothing screams **** more than being decked out in Rapha imo.

The only stuff I really like design wise is the stuff that isn't obviously Rapha ie softshell/hardshell otherwise I find the brand a bit of a turn off even though the clothing itself is very good.

I want this http://www.wiggle.co.uk/felt-f6-apex-2013/ I don't need it but it seems too cheap not to.

Rude not too at that price. Go for it!

Right.

Having not found the time to do anything for weeks I finally bucked and got the Bike Fixer round my house this morning whilst I was working from home.

The Soloist is now up and running. I think I might take it to work on Monday if it stops raining.

Issues to sort this weekend;

1) the chain is one link too short. I'd already put it on and I'd followed the 'big to big plus two' method. He's suggested a better method is to put the chain though the RD on big front / small rear and you should be able to draw a vertical line though the middle of the wheel and jockey wheel axles.

2) Rear wheel bearings are sticky. Need to have them out and re-grease.

Do you mean the Castelli Risvolto?

Just to warn you, it is a "one size fits all" but is a tight fit on my 22" head.

Yeah I would have largely thought that would be fine. On the big ascents I'm sure people will fall into their own rhythym and some will scoot away and others will suffer, but we'll all meet up for a coffee on the other side.

I'm a fearless stupid descender so I wouldn't want to have to wait too much throwing myself down the otherside of a mountain, but I'm a crap climber.

I did indeed. Not sure how big my head is actually! I shall measure later.

Thanks for that mate
ill let him relist it

The way I see it is this :

£660 + £40 petrol = £700
then say 4 weeks down the line I need to buy new chain, or cassette etc so lets say £200
that's £900, round that up, then I got £1000 to get a brand new bike, so no wear or tear etc

and I'll be able to insure it (prove its mine as I will have the receipt)

makes sense?

im sure I could get a 2013 CX bike with 105 gearing for under a grand ? (no disc brakes and I want fender mounts to use full size mud guards)
