Would this BCCode be related to my CPU overclock?

Extract from MS Answers Library "BCCode: 124 is a Hardware Failure though software such as BIOS, low level chipset drivers, drivers,
and even security programs can cause it. There have been a few instances where Norton/Symantec and other antivirus/security programs
have caused this error."

I had this when using my 660 and assumed it didn't like the overclock I was benching, so I removed it. I booted up this morning and after 5 mins of browsing the web, it BSOD'd, but this time using my 7970.

I've got a new PSU arriving tomorrow, but not sure what the actual cause is.

Yeah, 16gb. Not touched the RAM yet.

You helped me out with my overclocking thread maybe I should look to the RAM?

yh I would,with 16gb try with 1.08v vtt rather than stock 1.05v

leave cpu offset as it is for now

Its normally incredibly sporadic and has only happened 2-3 times over the last few weeks and on initial boot. I'll test over the weekend and see how it goes.

@ 1.08 and when benching on Heaven 4, the same BSOD happened.

Just benched with Heaven, seems to be fine now. Attempt 2 with memory clock on my 7970 @ 1500!

VTT back to auto and benching on Heaven fine, not BSOD. I do get bit of a whine on my MSI 7970 though.

slight whine is normal imo,i get it slightly in benchmarks and game menu's,in actual games I get none

It's caused by high FPS in 3D environments.

If you enable V-Sync it'll limit your FPS to about 60 and you wont get it anymore.

Obviously no use for benching, but good for in game menus.

Ok, so I have had my PC running stable at 4.5ghz for a good 6-7 weeks now. I've come to overclock my graphics card and with the settings below, 1/2 way through a 3DMark Vantage bench, I get the same code '0x00000124'.

Is my assumption correct in thinking the vcore/offset needs to be increased again to support this overclock?

I've only touched the GPU clock so far, was waiting to get it stable before going on the memory or have it dont it the wrong way round?

The vCore is currently set to 1.28 with an offset of +0.025. What would you recommend? +0.035? I'm worried it's going to cause perm damage.

im running my 2600k at 1.344v for over a year n half just fine

yh try +0.035v now and see how it goes,if stable could try +0.030v

anything below 1.4v is safe in my books

OK, will have to wait to try is as my other KB is somewhere. Annoyingly, my G510 doesn't let me into the BIOS!!!

Was getting the same error last week, tweaked my sa, iod/a voltages and solved it. Though i was overclocking my memory from 1600-2133mhz.
