Battlefield 4 Thread ~ Server details in opening post ~

Yup I don't like self healing vehicles, it is utterly stupid (it is one reason why jets are so stupidly overpowered in BF 3, they take one little bit of damage and then can just fly way of and wait for the regen. then come back in for one more run, rinse and repeat) but I will just have to live with it like I did with the much worse things in bf 3, blue filter, suppression, self healing vehicles too, poor balance between vehicles etc.

also, isn't this suppose to be more team based? Surely it would be better "making" the "team" work together on things like this, next thing you see in bf 5 will be the removal of medic packs, repair tools etc. since they will increase the health regen etc. to happen straight away :p

Why change something if it isn't broken? BC 2 had the perfect balance between vehicles and infantry. Vehicles were powerful enough without the regen. and could easily hold their own against a fair amount of guys.

It is just easy mode and to help the casual average players out, nothing else.

Although can't say that it will bother me much since I am getting the At 4 back and in BC 2 I was lethal with that thing, could hit a heli at the other side of the map in heavy metal easily (just as long as they haven't ****ed that up too.....)

And yes I said the same thing as soon as I heard about this new squad perk thing from the start and after seeing that video, it reinforces my opinion even more now, yes team play is nice and yes a team working together should be rewarded but not to the point where it "could" completely change the match so it becomes complete and utter rape and makes the game no fun whatsoever for the losing side, it is already a problem in BF 3 even when you have one good 4 man squad working together i.e. just earlier there were 4 clan members raping for 2 rounds or so, they left and then we were winning.

All you have to do is wipe them / none of the perks are game deciding / a lot of the tier 3/4 ones aren't that great even compared with the rest.

Some of the stuff is quite a decent advantage i.e. 10% less damage taken when shot to the chest.

Also, it all adds up, look at BF 3, go from a squad that all have the same perks to one using different perks and you will play better "overall", well I do anyway....

Why? Just play BF3 if you want BF3.

I like the new perk system.

I don't want to play BF 3 any longer :p BF 4 is looking 100 times better overall than it. Only reason I am still playing bf3 is because it is the only FPS shooter multiplayer game that is decent (plus the only online game I play), COD is **** and ARMA is slow as hell and too realistic and planetside two is too big and you don't have a clue what to do due to lack of tutorial, poor UI etc. plus is very much focused around team play + squad VOIP etc.

You really can't do much about people being better than you - whilst the auto balancing in BF3 is a bit dubious in that it actually makes sure the worst players end up on the losing team, that still doesn't account for those players being bad in the first place or those on the other team just being better. FPS games have already gone above and beyond in getting bad players into the game by making weapons all easy as hell to control and then things like spotting and in the case of BF3, suppression... there isn't much else they can do beyond detecting someone with a high K/D or SPM and halving the damage they do or making them explode every couple of minutes or something.

I don't know if you played the alpha but the way it worked with only unlocking perks from the squadplay xp was good... you stuck together and healed/resupplied each other whilst pushing flags and it filled up quickly, it wouldn't even really matter if you wiped because playing like that keeps it topped up.

You split up and go it alone and it's a struggle to even get to the 1st notch. Which is all this system is; rewarding squads sticking together with perks - bad squads sticking together will have the perks all the same.

True that, a well organised squad who are decent players can do "better" than a few good/great lonewolf players, in the sense, win the round.

Personally I don't mind spotting too much in BF 3 as it is a good way of letting your team mates know where the enemy are flanking instead of typing in chat or whatever, however, I think it needs to be reworked especially with regards to jets i.e. jets shouldn't be able to spot infantry or transport vehicles (like jeeps, jet skis) and their spotting range should be limited imo.

This game would benefit so much if k/d was removed!

I think I posted this before.... but I am generally more of a lonewolf guy as I don't trust half the players on my team to do what is best :p Also, they are usually sitting back and when I have tried to play with a squad, I just don't do anywhere as well i.e. be in the bottom half where as playing my way, I'll be in the top 5 usually and feel like I am helping my team more that way, perhaps if I had friends who played this (and were good) then I would play in a proper squad, maybe with bf 4 and the integrated squad VOIP that might change though.....

However, I am a great team player in the sense, I will revive like mad, throw supplies all the time, capture flags, arm the coms etc.

i totally agree with jets etc spotting infantry and jeeps etc.. but a good pilot can still watch for tracers and general camping spots and spam pods and still get kills...

+ low brightness on maps like kharg caspian firestorm etc makes jeep stand out a mile away with dust trails :D so easy to spot anyway

Game are giving away the BF3 jet unlock shortcuts with their BF4 "Game Exclusive Deluxe Edition". But it was the BF3 unlocks when buying BF4 and only when you buy the Game Exclusive deluxe edition which they are charging £60 for on consoles ! and £55 on PC ! The cheek of it !!

Am getting proper excited for this now! Got a few mates that I will be playing on ventrilo with and am looking forward to having squad play with randoms on in game voip :)

What servers are you all going to be playing on? I might even think of joining an easy going clan for some larger team play.

i totally agree with jets etc spotting infantry and jeeps etc.. but a good pilot can still watch for tracers and general camping spots and spam pods and still get kills...

For those who can't watch, essentially what I mentioned more or less, you can no longer spot the entire team from a distance (only spot a couple of guys) nor can you spam the spot button anywhere as much, at least for the scout heli anyway...

Hopefully it will also apply to all the other vehicles i.e. jets, apaches, tanks, gunship etc. or maybe the spotting system will be different depending on what vehicle you use???

Also, notice how you can't just fire the heat seeker missiles and quickly switch to the mini gun, instead you now have to hold down the fire button in order for the missiles to stay locked onto the target until they hit the designated target otherwise they just go flying of once you let go :cool:

Plus you can no longer shoot the pilot out through the "front" of the glass, have to shoot him through the sides.


I really want to see some AT4 footage, I hope DICE haven't changed it too much from BC 2 i.e. it will take time and skill to master it so you don't have everyone using it and making helis pointless then and one rocket/hit takes out a heli completely, none of this "disabled only" crap. If they have kept it the roughly the same then goodbye helis in BF4! :D :p


It really does seem like DICE are actually listening to what the community want this time, lets just hope it stays like this once the game is out and they continue to implement/change what we would like and not just do what they did in BF 3 i.e. constantly change weapon stats when there was no need as well as fixing a few bugs and ignore all the other more important stuff i.e. UI, suppression, blue filter etc.

Read that article a while back. Having owned both a 3570k and a 3770k, bf3 ran much smoother on the latter cpu with sli'd gpu's. Less cpu use, more gpu use and less stuttering. Both chips clocked at 4.5ghz. I can replicate the same by turning off ht on the cpu in sig or my older i7 930 system. Though the latter even with ht on is still a slight bottleneck with sli due to it's older and slower architecture.
 
I have never noticed a difference between HT on or off in BF3. With a pair of 780's at 1440p it was just as smooth off as it was on. Even with 670 Sli or a 690 it has always felt the same to me.
