GTA V

Lol. If you don't want to play GTA on console then thats fine but why judge other people for wanting to play it now rather than wait a year for slightly better graphics?

Strange. Had no issues with GTA IV or RDR on my launchday 360. I recently took out the console from my junk cupboard to play RDR again and still no frame rate issues. I smell a rat.

Then the collossal mess that was GTA IV on my 5ghz i7 rig - watching it crawl along due to the absolutely dire optimisation was a rather interesting experience to behold. To this day I still haven't bothered touching it on my machine.

I suppose those who had problems on the PC played the game on the same resolution and graphical settings like the consoles, right - 720p (or lower?), low/medium settings? The game didn't scale well on top settings, but it was very much a lovely experience if you had at least a decent clocked quad core and you weren't exaggerating with the sliders. Don't make this optimization thing something that it isn't.

Comparing a maxed out 1080p experience with a console one is... bogus.

I never quite 'got' the hate for the port to PC, I thought GTA IV was ~ok on PC and on my current spec it runs really well.

I hope that if they port GTA V across it's done well though and is open to modification.

It is being from what I can tell by a bloke at Rockstar but he's closed lipped as he really likes his job there. Understandably.

Don't do the straw man act. Controlling a FPS or "3rdPS" with a gamepad is not fun at all.

Strange millions seem to have fun using a gamepad. Strawman pull the other one you can't even seem to type coherently. Are you 12?

I'm quite picky about performance of games, but really, never saw a problem with GTA IV on PC, nor had a problem with it on console.

Frame rate drops are noticeable, but they don't hinder my enjoyment of the game. I'm much more focused on making the game look as nice as possible on PC.

Also; GTA IV / V should be played with a controller on PC :p.

Attack the idea, not the man dude. However, let me rewrite that for you - it's more precise, efficient and realistic to play with keyboard and mouse (realistic meaning you have a far better control over your character, just like in RL).

Regarding performance, here you go - http://youtu.be/F0RS1vaHkdk

Comparison of GTAIV on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC... PC version is Q6600 Core 2 Quad, 4GB of RAM, nVidia GTX295 running Vista Ultimate 32-bit. Consoles are running at 720p, PC at 1080p. Green line = 360, blue line = PS3, red line = PC. Green vertical lines = screen tear on 360
