Help my son choose a card £135 max

Not huge but noticeable on bf3 in the 48 and up player range. Below that it's fine. Also in blacklist when using night vision, there are dips down to 25 fps from an average of 55 fps on the settings I use.

My brother has a i5 3470 at stock with a 7770 ghz edition and has a constant 60 fps at the same res and settings in both games. I tested both pc's a couple of days ago.
Wait...so you are telling us that a Q6600 at 3.40GHz with a 7850 giving less than half the minimum frame rate comparing to a i5 3470 with a 7770 on the same graphic setting is NOT a huge bottleneck?

Marine. Try not to derail the thread mate. It's not important and I don't argue with folks online. It's just opinions.

Tc asked for help and got it. :)

The thread already pretty much concluded that OP should get a 7850 for what he got.

You brought out the point about the Q6600 and claim it is "good balance" with the 7850, and me and other people who have owned Q6600 disagree.

I highlighted the key points not try to be rude, but just to illustrate that even the evidence you yourself provides goes against you own claim. Something gone wrong with your analysis.

It's nothing personal, as much as I loved my Q6600 overclocked to 3.60GHz, it was clearly holding back even my 5850. If you are getting bottleneck in a game like BF3 that would use all 4 cores of the Q6600, can you not imagine or see how much worse it would perform in games that use less than 4 cores (particular games that are semi-CPU demanding)?
I am buying the 4670k and putting my 2500k into that pc very soon.
Yea that would be a good move...I just hate to imagine a good card like a 7850 not getting its legs stretched fully.

And your still going on about it even though you said the thread was concluded.

Ok mate.....What I meant was, in bf3 the bottleneck is not what I call huge. Neither across the range of games the we play. Yes in blacklist it's huge but the time and effort you put into debating it and highlighting points is just a bit much.

So I do apologize if I caused you to spend some of your time.

I'm out.

Edit: I have just noticed that you removed and edited what you originally posted in post 23 hence why I said that you are still going on about it. Better to leave this thread now.

Ok we'll got a bit heated in here lol but I do appreciate all your time in specing us a card.

I think having a Q9550 and a good gaming motherboard for his first PC should be pretty good ;) ok well tonight we shall buy the 7850.

No problems here mate.:D

Sometimes what we type doesn't come out exactly how we think.:D

My general point was that my 7850 is ok with the old quad even though there is bottlenecking here and there. Huge in some games yes but not huge across the board.:D

All the best.

Between those two I would go for the HD7850 too (though overall I would get the £180 HD7950 with 6 free games then sell the games to get >=40 back :P)

You get at least 4 free with the 7850, anything more is daft with that cpu.
Not that you actually ever get the games in my and others on this forums experience. (its a complete joke).

anyway hope youre son enjoys the card and has better luck with getting the games than most.
