Titan vs x2 GTX 780's

SLI 780's..

TTL has a youtube review where 780 SLI outperforms TITAN SLI, though most other reviews put the TITAN above but very close to the 780.

780 SLI is also cheaper..

What do you want to do?

For gaming, 2x. 780 will outperform the Titan.

But that review where Titan sli gets outperformed cannot be right.

I suggest he has a look at the review, as TTL is a well respected reviewer..

It's all to do with scaling. The TITAN outperform the 780 (single card) but the 780's scale better in SLI than the TITAN (for some reason)...

Considering SLI 780 will cost £1000-£1100 and TITAN SLI will cost £1600-£1700, its an easy choice..

Then you have the dilema of 780SLI vs 770tri-SLI vs 7970 tri-Fire.. :)

780's in SLI without a doubt seem the only sensible choice for gaming if you want top FPS.

Titan pricing seems obscene until the price drops.

I would have loved 2 x 780s great cards, with an overclock the right 780 can out perform a stock TITAN so with a few tweaks by not the same in SLI

Its a no brainer for me but then my brain isnt very big :)

Why would you need 2x 780s ? Unless your playing a very high resolution

at 1440p with my 780 lightning on a small overclock with a 4770k at 4.2ghz I get below 30fps at times in very demanding games like Cyrsis 3 and the Metros (in ultra settings all extras etc) if the OP is going for 1440p or triple monitor then 2 of these babys would be great!

I'm not a fan of ATI as i've had many ATI cards and felt Nvidia out performs and is long lasting. It may be more expensive for Nvidia but this time since building an i7 i'de prefer to go down the route of Nvidia. In that case would you recommend 770tri over 780sli and 1 single titan?

You mean the one were he tested overclocked 780's against stock Titans

Stock Titans in SLI will beat Stock GTX 780s in SLI

Overclocked it is the same story

TTL screwed up his review comparing the Titans and GTX 780s.

Skillful TTL. :D

That seem more likely, though it is scary how close 780's are too TITAN (when taking price into account)..

Sorry Kapp. :D

They are very close, about 7% iirc. Having said that though I am glad I went for the Titans as they can do the things I need.

I did think about getting a couple of 780 lightnings for a bit of benching fun but was put off by MSI not using Samsung memory chips.

He was comparing non ref GTX 780s with ref Titans. The mistake he made when using the Titans was to forget how they work, they throttle when they reach 80c which is hardly surprising in SLI. If he used a pair of ref GTX 780s the same thing would have happened. All he had to do was adjust the temp limit or change the fan profile on the Titans and all would have been fine.

2 x 780s without a doubt. Like everyone has said, TTL posted benches and a single 780 wasnt far off a titan in terms of performance.

Guess i'll be getting x2 780's any recommend on brand or wait for 780 lightnings?

For just gaming grab any of the GTX 780s, if you like doing a bit of overclocking/benching the MSI lightning or EVGA classified are the way to go.
