Battlefield 4 Thread ~ Server details in opening post ~

The bad company series was a game designed for console gamers who were too used to COD to be trusted with jets, and going prone. Why would you want to remove the stuff that makes a proper battlefield game ?

You really are buying the wrong game if you buy battlefield 4

To me it has always felt that BC2 retained some of that old BF2 feel but BF3 felt way more like COD to me - less teamplay, faster gameplay, more instant action, etc. I don't think they'll get it right with BF4 as it just looks exactly like BF3.

disagree, as far I can tell on the video and gameplay it looks much better, crisper and with better contrast. watching the BF3 trailer vs the BF4 indicate that.
Looks aside, the question is gameplay, if it has the fun back is the question.
2 weeks to beta

cheap place to buy BF4 ?
Try the Mexican website

Configure browser (FF or Chrome recommended) for proxy, here's one I used: 200.65.127.161, port 80. Go to Origin.com. When you are in Mexican Origin store search for BF4. Open pages for BF4 and Premium and put them in the basket. After that go forward from bottom right. When it asks for login info just put your username and password. After that payment page should come. Remove proxy and change language to English from bottom of the page. Input your credit card info. Price should be 899 pesos, that's about 51 euros. Then pay and order confirmation page should come. Check your Origin for games, they should appear immediately.

Last, just to be safe change your Origin password for new one. You never know for sure if someone monitors these proxys.

Paypal doesn't work in Mexico Origin unfortunately so Origin takes the payment when game is released.

Kenneth.

Not my op btw

You have to stop defending everything DICE do and want otherwise we get left with a mess like BF 3 where as when people do complain and voice what they want then you get a game that is much better i.e.

Why must I ?

Nearly 700 hours on I'm still enjoying the game. I've been playing a lot of CTF end game recently to mix things up, but conquest is still my most played game type with well over 1000 games.

I don't mind the jets. Yes if your team has no decent jet pilots and their team has a 100 * jet pilot you'll get ruined. But with inbalanced games like that I tend to just leave and find another game.

To get as good with the jets as those people are takes skill. I've tried and tried and just can't seem to master them to that extent. So just leave them be, you can't call for something to be removed from the game because somebody else is skilled with it and your not.

I'm not making assumptions about your or my skill with the game in general - or as an infantry player here. Just commenting that its obvious to me that both of us aren't that amazing with jets.

The thing you need to understand is that DICE didn't really understand console gamers. They ported Battlefield 2 onto the original Xbox as Battlefield : Modern Combat and it didn't do that well. They felt that the console FPS market was too saturated with people that either played COD, or had played it in the past. In order to get these people to play battleifeld they couldn't simply just port the PC battlefield game onto the console, they had to create a console specific battlefield title. Thats where Bad Company 1 came in. That really was a COD clone, but the PC crowd still wanted it as it was a battlefield game they were missing out on. THus when Bad Company 2 came out, they released a PC version as they hadn't counted on the PC fans wanting the console game.

BC2 still lacked a lot of features that BF2 had, but people seemed to skip over this as it was called Bad Company instead of battlefeld, but it was fundamentally a cut down version designed to appeal to console gamers. The popularity of the game on consoles was growing so much, with a desire to play a proper battlefeld game, and they merged the two franchises to produce Battlefield 3. This was designed to be part battlefield game, part bad company. What took DICE by surprise was how many console gamers were saying they didn't want cut down versions of the maps. They produced a 3 flag version of wake island, and a 3 flag version of Gulf Of Oman, and a 3 Flag version of Sharqui Peninsula. But nobody on the console played them at all. The desire was for the biggest versions the console would allow. DICE never counted on this and its why they showcased the B2K DLC to the press at the time on console playing the samller 3 flag maps.

Thats why, this time round with battlefield 4, they have the full size 64 player maps on console, because they've finally realized that the Battlefield francise has just as much of a devout following on the console as it does on the PC. No longer are they just targeting COD gamers, they are targetting the Battlefield Fans who play on console and want the full PC experience. Battlefield 3 was a toe in the water, a test of whether or not they could combine the two franchises, and how much console gamers wanted a full proper battlefield game. That's why you've seen a Battlefield 4 follow battlefield 3, rather than a new Bad Company game.

Battlefield 4 creative director: 'We underestimated console gamers'

Bit of a stupid question that as I have already explained my reasons, to make the game overall better and as it stands the majority of people I know on forums like this, friends etc. much prefer BC 2 to BF 3, even the diehard BF 2 veterans, why is that??? Simple answer....... it was a more "fun and enjoyable" game (isn't that the whole point of gaming??) that was better balanced overall and didn't have as many annoying problems.

How many prefered BC2 to BF2 though ?

BF3 was designed as a crossover title, that would provide cut down gameplay to the console gamers, and the full experience to the PC. Thats why the PC ended up with several maps that was obviously designed for no more than about 32 people. Most of the PC gamer's criticisms about battlefield 3 was that it didn't have enough of the BF2 features in it, not that they wanted the jets removed and prone removed etc !!

Ploughing through buildings with a Tank looks fun, though it all depends on how restrictive it is, makes the bollards stopping the Tank even more eyebrow raising, a retractable bridge would have been a better option imo.

At least we know the beta map will have some aircraft in it and a few Tanks at least, though would have much preferred to see Jets farting about and what Dice have done to the game to stop the rape of ground Vehicles, if the rocket pods are out and the bomber is the main way of attacking ground vehicles then that's a good start, as long as they've also done away with the ludicrous 5mph strafing runs that were a headache in bf3.

This video pretty much sums up two of those problems:

WTF, how does he even manage to land the jet like that without it exploding? He's at around 16% "health" slaps it onto the ground and it surprisingly doesn't explode. Usually at that damage level a passing fart will cause your Jet to explode. He gets quite a lot of phantom bumping in mid-air as well, did dice ever say what causes that? Seems weird that you jet sometimes acts like its hitting off something when there's nothing there.

Well for a start look at the way he keeps going to outside view what's around him, noob pilot. go play HC mode and he won't be doing what he does there.

lol right

372 Jet Service Stars. Obviously a complete noob

You do realize the meaning of the word noob don't you ? You can hardly be new to jet piloting when he's got nearly 600 hours in jets. And don't start with the BS that hardcore makes somebody more skilled. Its harder, but that doesn't make it more skilled.

If i lose one arm, it would make things infinitely harder for me. Does that mean I instantly become more skilled by virtue of having one less arm ?

The only valid comparison would be if you found a Jet Pilot who had similar stats, but flew exclusively hardcore. Then in which case you could probably argue that guy is of greater skill. You'd need to find a Jet Pilot with 372 service starts who flys on exclusively hardcore first though ...

I really don't know how people are more excited about GTA5 than this!

After gta 3 I never really seen the appeal in gta games, you usually have more fun using cheats and going mental with explosives than doing the missions. They were always fun for mayhem but some of the missions were very grinding, hence go boogaloo mode. Obviously It has a lot of appeal in other ways, just not really my kinda game.

Me buying this will be decided on the beta as to be honest even though I purchased premium for a fiver, I've played it once or twice and never touched it again.

Netcode
Killed Around Corners
I shot him in the face, yet he still turned around and killed me situations

Is what put me off in BF3
