Bought EVO mag today and it has the 2013 tyre review carried out on a Mercedes 1.6.
Goodyear F1AS2 won it. Linglongs came last.
FWD run of the mill I guess, doesn't really represent most of the cars Evo test and recommend.

Goodyears are very good, work very well on my Golf. Super Sports work even better on the M3!

Well that can't be right, as lots of very knowledgeable people on PistonHeads have been claiming that premium brand tyres are a waste of money. I bet Goodyear slipped EVO a backhander to make sure Linglong came last![]()
I always buy decent tyres, and haven't had crappy tyres for years. However the cynic in me wonders how much of performance tyres is snakeoil and how much is real. I'd love to back to back test some linglongs vs. F1A2s and find out.
At the end of the day I do 20k miles a year, even if I drive perfectly (which I don't) I can't allow for the people around me so when I want to stop I want to stop as quickly as possible, which is why I splash the cash.
I know I could run high 20s with AD08 and get the same feel![]()

34/36, so it's a lot higher now. Newer models do run 40 and above though, so maybe it's not as retarded as it seems?

I'm sure they did the usual blind test without knowing which tyre was which.
