Bought this SSD from OC. and noticed the seal on the box had been clearly cut....
why the hell would anyone break into a ssd box :/:/

or actually why the hell would the box be cut and opened before the customer gets it.

Why dont you get in touch with OCUK and ask them??.

Does the drive work??

I have not tested it yet, im just curious why the seal would be cut, im also sick and tired of getting stuff from ocuk WITH THE SEAL CUT lol, its my favorat place to buy pc hardware, its just weird that other stores i have bought stuff from PC related and there`s are sealed.

Like i said its probably best to get in touch with OCUK and ask them. Could be done to keep costs down as everytime i order hard drives from them, they come in a anti static bag with no boxes or anything. But the bags are sealed.

does not look like its been returned as the smart data indecates that its only been on 2 hours and thats from my usage.
though the LBA count is huge :o i have not even installed a os to it yet did some speed tests and thats it WTF lol

though i have noticed that i can not enable RAPID mode its failing to enable says : Failure :/ apart from that everything looks normal i think.

well i cant for the life of me get rapid mode enabled :(
also seems this SSD is stuck in a frozen state ??????? cant erase it no matter what i do with the official software.

RMA time for a full refund and get a different ssd from somewhere else totally annoyed at this getting a broken drive, with seal broken and opened ????... makes you wonder if i got some returned goods that did not work properly in the first place.

you need latest version of magician tool for rapid mode to work so make sure

the cd install told me there was a update so i updated to the latest version 4.2.1
still the same outcome.

I have no idea why the bloody ssd is locked cause i have not even installed a operating system on it.
also i cant format it with other tools cause they all say ssd is in use even though there is no os on it its blank.....

not sure what to do other than RMA :/

wont it let you secure erase it? inside magician tool? then it should let you format it and install windows to it

No mate wont let me format it at all, also i just tryed to install windows 7 x64 on it
i tried in AHCI mode, put in my gigabyte OC disk, tried to install so meny drivers off it, the ssd was having none of it, could not detect the drive at all infact the gigabyte driver would not locate a proper driver at all for my motherboard chipset in ahci mode.

so i rebooted and tried ide mode to at least get the os installed then change to ahci mode but again i couldnt install, the drive was detected in ide mode but when i selected the drive and formated it then proceeded to install, when it got the the extraction part of the install i came out with a error saying could not copy files to disk, i know its not the dvd as i installed from this disk to my other drives and its fine.

--------------------------------------------------------------

I totally give up on the drive now im going to unplug it and send it back to OCUK and i want them to make sure the next one they send me out gets checked for issues with my gigabyte oc board cause i can not install from IDE or AHCI or format it from within samsung software or enable rapid mode, the only thing i can do with this drive is copy files to it from within the os and benchmark it lmfao.... utterly ****ed off to say the least....

if ocuk do not test the drive they send me out i will ask for a refund.

yeah, i would be intrested to know what OCUK`s thoughts are on this type of customer support. Or what monkeys they have in there warehouses.
I know im ranting a bit but this type of shoddy customer support happens to often... broken seals and what not seems the norm at ocuk. there probably to busy speed binning and we end up with the average goods. lol

Just a update guys, getting a full RMA replacment.
even the OCUK tech guy said the drive is broken and shouldnt be doing that.

Well at least they are fixing their mistake so hopefully you should get a brand new drive soon.

Its not uncommon for these things to happen especially in a large company such as OCUK and the amount of orders they process and send out.

Well good news guys, :D
been pluttering about with the system, and ssd, seems my original os drive is not playing ball with the ssd when trying to use its features, i managed to get the drive secure erased using another program, as the samsung magician was not working correctly on my os.

so i got it erased and formated and installed windows 7 fresh on it, then fresh samsung software download....
and now its working correctly, seems the issues i had was not being able to get it formated, also rapidmode seems to only work when a os is installed on it and not when the drive is used for storage, those are both fixed and working now on the new fresh os install.....

think its a keeper as you can see from the picture the performance from drive loading to getting into windows is about 5-7 seconds :D

awesome indeedo :D
