Nairobi (Kenya) Shopping Center Terror Attack

edit: retracted, interpretation of post incorrect :)

And your wrong to think that questioning Islam carries a death sentence.
I referred to the culture of those islamic countries, not islam. Although the koran is quite keen on killing people for stuff.

I'd hate to ask for sprinkles on my ice cream in Saudi Arabia, that's bound to come with some kind of infidel stoning :(

Islam promotes the idea of knowledge (Its one of the main principles of Islam)- knowledge is attained through questioning things.
Don't you find it odd that questioning things in any islamic country is always a quick way to die? They should be skipping through the streets in delight at anyone trying to further their knowledge. Anyone would think beheading gave them a tax rebate.

The only way to solve this is by reform of Islam (as with Christianity), but not one single muslim has ever picked up on that point.
You can't keep waving a book around that so many people are misinterpreting (and innocents dying for it)

The majority DO! - Look at how the muslim population of the UK reacted to the woolwich terror attacks. I didn't see anyone here highlighting that then.

Also - If you expect locals to take their own action against these people them maybe you should think about other countries and them constantly interfering in the local politics by introducing 'regime change' as soon as someone doesn't want to bow to giving them oil cheap.

One protest is nothing, it needs to be a concerted effort. Great to see, but the problem still exists so persist. The west isn't perfect, far from it, but take the lead, become the perfect citizens instead of finding reasons why others aren't perfect, lead for once.

But the peaceful Muslims silence is deafening

Yeh because we cant be bothered anymore with the amount of anti islam/muslim media bashing that goes on. It really is as simple as that.

As for the attacks??, sickening really...makes me rage that these so called muslims are using my religion to carry out such attacks again and again.

Wow...way to go!

"Omg people say bad things about us *sniffle*, lets just let awful things happen by our people then! *sniffle, sob*"

"but...we could try and show them they're wrong?"

"*lip quivers* naah, that's too much effort"

If Christianity didn't move forward from the Old Testament then we would be doing the same. Hence the number of killings in the name of god are extremely rare (I can't even name one?)

Heres a name for you - Breivik ;)

LOL - I'm not as quick as others to resort to name calling - It was in answer to your question roflmao :)

You might want to take a look at the "Innocent until proven Muslim" thread in SD instead of jumping on the usual GD bandwagon.

The media makes a point of ensuring that whilst the majority of muslims do actually try - our statements are overshadowed by their usual sensationalist headlines which most sheep fall for. :p

Your religion never seemed that bothered before, that is your issue. Again we see the "it's because of someone else we don't do anything". Good people doing nothing is how problems arise, you can't blame the press without taking a big chunk of the responsibility. For generations, once you cut through the terrible negativity of our people, you can't say that the British people don't stand up for what they believe to be right even when their TV and tabloid scum try to define the agenda. Ive seen years and years of silence, years and years of people trying to avoid condemnation to position their own agenda. Muslims are still a massive minatory in the UK so if you want to be heard and taken seriously you need to make the effort and not expect everyone else to do it. Our press is our problem, but I don't see legions of UK based muslim websites against the actions of the terrorists and upholding the good things about our country and way of life, perhaps you can direct me to them?

PMSL oh dear :/ it was an off the cuff comment lol.

But the point i was trying to make, which you evidently failed to grasp is that what would it do if we all protested against these attacks eh??. Do you not realise that the media are not in any way, shape or form interested in what the peaceful muslims say about these attacks??. Of course they dont because it doesnt sell papers or get them ratings whereas the extremist/terrorists garner all the headlines.

That was the point i was trying to make;) and i still stand by my comment. Doesnt matter how much we protest, it wont solve anything and people will still have it in their thick heads that we muslims are a bad bunch :/.

Why should you give a damn what the media say?! I wasn't aware that trying to stop some nutjob fundamentalists was a PR exercise!
Silly me.

You are wrong. I know several people in the media and rest assured if the story was positive they would be all over it. Not doing something because you think it won't be well received is an excuse as well and again points to diversion tactics that become tiresome.

Actions speak louder than words, take the initiative as to my point above I would be incredibly positive towards it as would, I suspect, the vast majority of the people we all live with here. If they are not then is becomes a problem and we need to give them a slap for trying to disregard the majority of muslims who are showing they are happy to integrate and to deride the actions of the few who use their great religion in their name. The FACT is the silence, outside of the pockets, is deafening and you can't prove otherwise. Asking me to come a muslim community and listen is also making it my fault, the mediums are there, use them to get your majority message across because if you don't, as I said above, it's your issue.

@ zoomee, post retracted

makes me rage that these so called muslims are using my religion to carry out such attacks again and again.

Why continue to call everyone muslim then when some clearly aren't?

We have sane christians (methodist, protestant, CofE etc)
and we have batpoo insane christians (evangelicals).

Everyone knows that whatever Evangelicals say and do can be laughed at, even though they make out they are the true Christians :)

You could have:

"Literal Islam", "Fundamental Islam" and "Islam that condones rape", and those could be "Islam" for all the middle eastern countries

and in the UK you could have
"UK nice Islam", "No killing here Islam" and "More tea vicar? Islam"
Then we would all know what kind of muslim you were :)

Problem fixed.

This issue ain't going to solve itself, muslims need to sort their religion out.
Calling yourself 'muslim' is going to get yourself lumped with all the other 'muslims' and last time I looked there were around 400 different schools of thought on what Islam means.

And in that line alone you show your true colours. I challenge and debate with you so it becomes personal, an agenda, anti muslim. Can you not see that such comments simply uphold many peoples perspectives of muslims?

Somewhat silly and disappointing don't you think?

I'd also urge you to read what I wrote again. I said it is great to see such condemnations, but one incident is not a war won, it needs to be broader. AGAIN you show a lack of comprehension and again it's part of the reason the image of muslims (note, image and reality are often very different) is so weak.

After the muslim rape gang thing a while back, a muslim guy organised a sermon to be read out at 500 mosques.

A number of them refused to read it out as they said it was nothing to do with them as all muslims know not to do this, muslims being super pure and all that.

When the current Pope spoke about the priest sexual abuse issue, the topic was endlessly discussed in catholic churches and in the Christian/Secular media and has been for the past decade.
People (rightly) continue to condemn the Catholic church over this.

Do you see the difference in expectations and responsibility here?

Nairobbery has always been a problem with violence. However this is quite a silly thing to do especially as this is one of the poorest slums in africa
