Any other single people live off microwave meals?

Why not make food in batches and then refrigerate or freeze? There are plenty of meals that take little time to make that can be done in big batches using fresh ingredients.

Like bolognese, other pasta sauce dishes. Loads of meat and rice dishes and so on. Then the meal just takes as long as it takes to boil some pasta or rice and leaves little mess.

I could do but I like to have something different to eat each night so one meal would be spilt over a couple of weeks.

Be a bit boring having the same thing all the time.

I tend to eat a lot of those ~£1 bags of frozen vegetables and microwave them; aren't they meant to hold onto the nutrients longer than fresh anyway? Apart from that I mostly cook using an oven :p.

I quite like microwave meals whether they're ultra cheap or not but they just never seem very filling :/.

Multiple batches of different meals is your friend in that case. It's quite easy to make up a few different meals to eat across the week with our much effort of imagination. You can even adjust some meals. Like it's quite easy to turn a bolognese type of sauce in to chilli with a few a few chilli peppers and some kidney beans and the have it with rice.

Get a slow cooker, get lots of recipes for this and enjoy. Works out cheaper than microwave crud and if you time it well food is ready for when you walk in the door, pure convenience for 10 minute prep...

Many moons ago when i lived alone my diet mainly consisted of takeaways and microwave meals. It did me no harm and was quick and easy to make after coming home from work

Your cholestorel / lipids levels must have been astronomically high.

I have lived solely on microwave meals, takeaways and food that doesn't need cooking (e.g. bread) for over 10 years.

I've had many tests for all sorts of things this year and last year. Buckets of blood tests, various ultrasound scans, MRIs, the whole kit and caboodle. My chloresterol levels are always fine and the one test showing high blood pressure was a brief anomaly.

I've been paying more attention to my health this year and the main thing I've learned is that things are rarely as simple as they're often thought to be. Overall generalisations might be simple, but the devil is in the details.

If you're willing to spend a fair chunk of time cooking in one go and if your freezer is big enough, you can cook sizable quantities of various different meals and freeze them all in portions. They'll be fine frozen for a couple of weeks. Couple of months would probably be fine. e.g. cook 4 portions each of 4 different meals and you've got 16 days of some variety.

I'd love to eat the same thing all the time. If it was possible to get a healthy diet by eating some kind of rations bar and nothing else, I'd jump at the chance. Ration bar for breakfast, ration bar for lunch, ration bar for dinner...perfect.

If you don't want to cook then don't But you fail at life buying Microwave meals.

There are plenty of things you can eat!

Why not get some wraps and cooked chicken from the supermarket?

10 seconds in the micro the Wrap comes out you stick chicken in it and pre washed salad and squeeze some mayo or salad cream or whatever on in sprinkle of ready grated cheese sorted

Stop being a loser!

I'm a fat *******. One little chicken wrap or a ration bar wouldn't fill me.

16" takeaway pizza or extra large donor kebab now you're talking. :D

At the moment, yes last week, yes this week. Not going to last long though. I like good food. Microwave food is not good food. Part of it is time constraints at the moment to be fair.

No, but my "cooking" is.

You like cooking? Fine. Enjoy yourself with it. I don't like cooking. So I don't spend time cooking when I don't have to. Different people like different things.

I've just made a chili .timed myself on my Casio :p Took me 4 mins

Tin of Tomatoes
Tin of kidney beans
Squeeze of tomato puree
Fistful of quorn mince
handful of frozen green chopped peppers
Handful of frozen chopped oinions
Chili powder
few stock cubes

Water from kettle

I just banged all this in a pan and give a stir until it boiled.

Had it with microwave basmati rice

This is not cooking lol

Took less time than a microwave meal to cook and prepare.

Are you saying you can't open tins and put stuff in a pan from the freezer? :p
