So I've used Acronis Disk Manager for years, but I've noticed version 11 seems to be their last version and doesn't support Windows 8?

Can people recommend an alternative?

I notice Paragon Manager 2013 is free, but also it can do simple things like split or merge? Anyone used it?

try here - it gives a comparison between paid/free versions (10 second google!)

I swapped to Paragon Hard Disk Manager a while ago from Acronis

Saw that and noticed it doesn't support "split, merge" for the free edition? You don't find that limiting?

These two seem to be good (& free) - Anyone used them?

I pay for the "pro"/"business" version, works out about £12-£20 a year after the initial purchase. Got rid of a few products as it is a nice all-in-one package

Is that "Partition Manager Professional"? Currently $79.95 for the initial purchase.

I am thinking of purchasing that but was wondering on the general upgrade cost each year. I've ditched all Acronis software (backups now handled by Macrium Reflect Pro) but need a good partitioning replacement. I don't mind spending on something good, but need to factor in the upgrade costs when comparing products.

Personally never seen the use of partition managers... Windows offers nearly everything that you need.

I use Easeus partition manager, have used to split/merge/extended partitions for internal and external drives no problems.
Free also.
