********* The Official GTA V (5) thread! *********

Is there a good overview of online anywhere?
I genuinely don't understand!!!
Why would you buy a house or a car with real money? I thought the idea was when you and your pals are online you do bank jobs etc. if you want a car you just pinch it, right? Same as you do throughout the whole game?
It's not the sims, what's the point in having your own 'house'?

Thats the entire point of pay to win. Yes you can buy something if you spend ages leveling up and saving money, or you can unlock it now by paying real money and gain an instant advantage.

Is it just because this game is made by the almighty do no wrong Rockstar that nobody seems to have a problem with this? Ill bet if it was an EA game people would be much more up in arms.

The difference is that EA is usually purely pay to win, in that you can pay real money and instantly get the best bits in the game. Even though you can still pay real money to gain an advantage, it is limited in that things are rank limited which while still gives the people who pay an advantage it is limited.

Saying that though, unless I missed something all the posts above are expressing concern over the pay to win possibilities. Though as we don't know the full details of GTA:O or exactly what you can buy with real money it is pure speculation.

Some of the same reasons you do in the single player mode. I don't know whether anything has been released about buying properties that earn you money in GTA:O so can't comment on that but owning a properly allows you save cars in the garage, from some of the early reports you can leave guns etc there to which allows you to give the to your mates who are pulling a heist with you.

Oh that's pretty cool, so some of the random encounters you have end up with people being available to join your crew in heists... I have completed the man game, but didn't know that! I just saved some woman, and took her home, but didn't get there in time and she died. If she had survived I take it she would have been available as a crew member?

Even though I have done the main story, I still have a few side quests left, and I realised that I didn't spend enough time in the countryside!... I might start a new game actually.

Is this the one you pick up from the crashed car who says something along the lines of 'good job you came as the police would have been here soon' and then goes on to say who her father is etc? If that is the one, I can't remember if she can be on the crew but you get $60k from her dad for it :)

That's the one, but she died before I got her home, so no reward for me!

Actually, I think you might have two mixed up? The one I just picked up was near a crashed car, BT didn't say anything about her father... Though I did pick up a woman earlier, who's father was a mobster who gave me 60k

I HATE pay to win. Completely ruins games for me.

I need to remember to invest my offline players money in the gun shop and the car shop before the Ballsack starts working properly on the 1st.

Haha oops. Yh the mobster one is the one you save from being buried isn't it. Yes the one you save from the car can join your crew, though if you missed the chance it doesn't matter as I believe the random events will re-appear if you didn't complete them the first time.

I prefer a line a petrol to a petrol station then watch it blow up.

Hmmmm now I am thinking, line of petrol to the local police station as there is usually a few police cars parked outside :D

Line of petrol in Franklin's neighbourhood! Be prepared to ruin for your life though lol.

lol, drove down grove street in my ferrari, stuck finger up at one gang member and about 20 of them started shooting at me, straight out of there to LS customs for a repair!
