Capital One Cup - Second Round 24/25 September *** Spoilers ***

How on earth did we lose to that rabble? With the exception of a couple of shots from distance we controlled the game from the 10th minute. Poor defending from Gerrard and Enrique from a corner and brain dead decision making in the final third cost us what should have been a comfortable win.

Deary me, lack of European Football is really doing funny things to your head.

Look at it another way.

Sturridge first touch was awful, truly awful. Unless his boots were sponsored by Flora ???
Gerrard non existent
Suarez will take time to loose the 6lbs he has put on and get sharp
Henderson, other than gob off to Giggsy did he do anything else in the game
Mignolet was your MotM
Toure was like a headless chicken at the back

Didn't see most of it but even manyoo fans on my timeline are saying they poxed that one.

From what I saw kagawa and Suarez both very rusty, but I suppose that's to be expected.

You disagree? We were getting in behind your defense time and again but kept finding ways of ****ing it up. Utd on the other hand had a couple of shots from distance and the goal from a corner.

edit: like they're showing on Sky now.

There wasn't anyone in control or a comfortable win for either side, to be honest.

It was a very even game that neither team can claim to be billy big balls about but I suppose sitting up the table got to your head for a little bit BaZ :p

As Sky said though, your first team got beat by our reserves

Does anyone know what Zaha has done to Moyes? 15m signing, great preseason then he's just been shunned completely, not even a sub appearance, really odd

I suspect that Zaha is still pretty raw round the edges and Managers have a responsibility to look after new young players. Playing for Palace in the Championship is a very different proposition to playing for Man United. I can understand why Moyes hasn't risked him in recent games. He's a young lad it wont do him any harm.

BBC says that West Brom have had 16 shots with 4 on target compared with Arsenal's 6 shots and 1 on target...is it really that one sided?

Wenger put out a team of non match fit players, players with mostly no starts, and mostly no appearances yet this season. Arteta is only just back from an injury.

Offensively it looks like 4-5 guys who have never met each other before so... no surprise we've been dire. THe only incisive passes in behind have been from Eisfeld or Bendtner and it's no surprise those two linked for the goal.

Wenger looked unhappy at our goal, he probably just wants the games off our fixture list.

he then brought on our 17 year old striker............. ON THE DAMN WING. I mean serious, and for the past 10 mins Akpom has been wide right and Gnabry(who is closer to Walcott, ie fast and maybe effective on the wing) has played further upfront. This is why most of our youngsters never improve, Akpom gets brought on out of position too late to make a change when a not match fit team is knackered. It's just laughable frankly. Gnabry down the wing with Akpom ahead of Bendtner in a 4-4-1-1 would be our only real chance of getting anything.

We've got a bunch of guys on yellow cards and the youngsters in midfield, their positioning for marking and closing down in midfield has been horrendous. Back off then close down at the wrong point and leave a huge hole for Brom to pass through.

Well, your first team got beaten by our first team a couple of weeks ago, so maybe you need to sort out your selection policy ;)

I think David Moyes has done funny things to your head.

I've said twice that our final pass or shot was terrible today. We did continually get in behind your defense and get into great positions to score. Our general play wasn't too bad at all and we defended on the whole very well.

Put it this way, I doubt we'll see many other sides go to OT this season and limit Utd to a couple of shots from distance and set-plays, and also create as many chances as we did.

And what did Mignolet have to do other than a couple of shots straight at him from distance?
As Sky said though, your first team got beat by our reserves
Your reserves cost more than our first team. And I suspect when you account for injured players we were missing, we'd have made nearly as many changes as you to put your first team out.

Pffft was hoping Arsenal would have got this game done and dusted by now but shoddy goal to concede as we usually do and then Jenks puts in a nice cross only for Bender and Ryo to miss :/

Didnt think it would ET, thought that came later in the rounds...oh well ummm Arsenal please score lol.

And for all the supposed pressure you had behind our back four  De Gea looked worn out from all them saves he had to make.................oh hang on. Possession counts for naff all if your not going to do anything with it.

I'm still not convinced you had the amount of pressure you actually think you had.

Nice swerve on Gerrard being none existent and Sturridge being generally crap tonight. Well done good skills ;)

In fact I take it all back. All this supposed pressure in behind our back four and you only started with nine players. It's a very Special team, very special team we beat tonight
