BMW and M Power Owners

Do it. I prefered the Z4 S35iS engine over the M3. Another 90hp will be epic especially with DCT.

I think I will get one to replace the 530D next year. There is only so much diesel and man can take before he needs revs and noise and to run around with his hair on fire, even when he gets close to 50 :(

Manual! M3 and M4. Can't wait to see the production versions.

Anyone other than Dr House taken an F10 M5 out for a spin?

Some fantastic finance deals out there. I'm thinking of taking one on a two year lease - keys handed back at the end.

Had a sit in one today and must say I loved it, good quality.

Anyone else? Are there any 'must have' options? I'm concerned about the size, would be the biggest thing i've ever had but i guess you get used to these things.

Yes, I took one for a drive around Munich last year. It was absolutely incredible and I loved it - fantastic exterior, exterior, the performance was stunning and it sounded great but I was left wondering if perhaps the performance on offer was just too frustrating for UK roads. I don't think I'd buy one, I'd have a 550i or a 535i instead I reckon.

On the Autobahn it was great. On the M25.. perhaps more frustrating?

I own one and it’s marvellous. One minute it can be a purring house cat and the next a wild beast. Performance, comfort, sound, looks, it has it all.

Acceleration is mind blowing at times and you do have to keep an eye on your speed. If you leave your foot down then the power just goes on and on. One minute 70 then in a blink 100 and then more…. It’s a shame we don’t have some derestricted roads but that does not deter you from having a lot of fun.

It already comes very well equipped and mine has lots of options. I think that 20” wheels, the reversing assist camera, the M Multi-function seats (split/folding rear seat) would be a good starting point.

It's not a diss, and it may sound fine in person when driven in "anger" but a fake sound is still a fake sound.

That's my point^
It's like finding a ding on your wing but only you know it's there.

As I said, I'm not dissing it but the thought would always be there. Oh well.

What's fake about the trim badges that come on my car? Nothing. They're there because those parts are physically different to the SE trim bits. Wider tyres, chunkier steering wheel, weighted gear knob, lowered suspension, different panels...etc.

Irrelevant comparison is relevant :)

The dent comparison is a better one. Besides, it wasn't a moan either.

Anyone have experience of BMW covering repair work/parts through goodwill?

My 2008/57 Z4 3.0si (FBMWSH, 43k miles, no warranty) brought up the DSC, ABS and general warning lights all at once last week, I was away over the weekend but they were still on when I got back so got it into the dealers (Eastern BMW, just outside Edinburgh). Anyway, the DSC unit has failed (£2200 for part and labour) and the camshaft wear sensor is showing an issue so they need to take the head off to investigate further (£1250 just for the diagnosis) - a lot of money for a car worth <£10k .

The dealers are submitting a goodwill claim to BMW for the DSC unit but said that diagnosis work isn't covered which seems off, I phoned BMW UK customer service and they said a claim could be submitted after the work had been done, however. It's waiting on a response from BMW about the DSC unit and my approval on investigating the camshaft wear issue.

Hopefully it seems like a strong case for goodwill, I don't think major parts like these should be failing with this age/mileage/service history - it's only money, but money I'd rather spend on something else :(.

A chap I work with had the same problem with the DSC unit on his 2007 Z4, spookily also the same dealer as you that dealt with the claim and applied for goodwill. I can't remember what the breakdown was but he had to pay 1k towards the repair.

Guys, M135i. How easy is the golf tee mod and does it make a fair difference to the engine noise? Can't help but think it's a little muted and that glorious 6 cylinder sound needs to be heard properly.
